Job Title: Desktop Engineer Department: IT Infrastructure / End User Computing Location: Chennai/Coimbatore Reports To: IT Manager / Infrastructure Lead Job Summary: The Desktop Engineer will be responsible for delivering seamless end-user support and ensuring reliable IT operations across the organization. This role involves managing and maintaining macOS and Windows devices, handling asset lifecycle management, supporting corporate events and townhall setups, and ensuring secure, compliant endpoint management through Jamf, Intune, and related platforms. Key Responsibilities: End-User Device Management Manage and support macOS and Windows laptops across the organization. Configure, deploy, and maintain systems using Jamf Pro (for macOS) and Intune (for Windows and mobile devices). Ensure compliance with company security policies encryption, patching, and antivirus standards. Handle application packaging, deployment, and updates through MDM platforms. Perform regular system health checks and proactively address issues. IT Operations & Support Provide on-site and remote support for employees, ensuring minimal downtime. Log and manage incidents, requests, and changes through ServiceNow ITSM platform. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues efficiently. Collaborate with infrastructure and network teams for escalations and root cause analysis. Support video conferencing and townhall/event setups (Zoom, Teams, Webex, AV systems). Asset & Inventory Management Maintain accurate asset inventory of IT hardware and peripherals. Manage end-to-end IT asset lifecycle procurement, deployment, tracking, warranty, and decommissioning. Coordinate with vendors for repairs, replacements, and RMA processing. Network & Connectivity Support Troubleshoot LAN/Wi-Fi issues and assist with connectivity to Meraki, Cisco, and Juniper switches and access points. Perform basic network diagnostics and collaborate with the network team for escalations. Support VPN configuration and secure remote access for end users. Event & Townhall Support Provide technical assistance for internal and leadership events, ensuring flawless AV and connectivity setup. Set up and manage conference rooms, projectors, microphones, and streaming setups. Coordinate with facilities and vendors during live events or townhalls. Documentation & Continuous Improvement Maintain and update IT documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles. Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement. Participate in audits and ensure adherence to IT policies and compliance standards. Skills and Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience). Experience: 2-4 years in IT support, desktop engineering, or end-user computing. Technical Skills: Strong expertise in macOS and Windows 10/11 administration. Hands-on experience with Jamf Pro and Microsoft Intune . Familiarity with ServiceNow ITSM for incident and request management. Good understanding of network fundamentals VLANs, DHCP, DNS, Wi-Fi troubleshooting. Exposure to Cisco Meraki , Cisco Catalyst , and Juniper switches and access points. Experience supporting AV systems and townhall/event setups . Knowledge of endpoint security , encryption, and compliance tools. Strong documentation and organizational skills. Soft Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration with end users and cross-functional teams. Strong problem-solving and time-management skills. Customer-first attitude and attention to detail. Work Environment: Primarily on-site role with occasional remote or after-hours support for business events or maintenance activities.
