Scrub Nurse - Cath Lab

• Prepare sterile instruments, catheters, wires, balloons, stents, and other consumables.
• Set up and maintain a sterile field in the Cath Lab.
• Ensure availability and functionality of required equipment before procedures.
• Verify patient consent, identification, and pre-procedure checklists.
• Scrub in and assist cardiologists during angiography, angioplasty, pacemaker/ICD implantation, and other interventional procedures.
• Handle and pass sterile instruments and devices to the operator.
• Maintain strict aseptic techniques throughout the procedure.
• Monitor patient condition alongside the circulating nurse and physician.
• Assist in safe transfer of patients from the Cath Lab to recovery/ICU.
• Manage disposal of sharps, soiled linen, and biomedical waste as per protocols.· Ensure proper cleaning, sterilization, and restocking of instruments and consumables.
• Adhere to infection control and radiation safety guidelines.
• Participate in emergency response during complications such as cardiac arrest, arrhythmias, or bleeding.
• Maintain accurate procedure records, consumables used, and patient reports.
• Participate in audits, training, and quality improvement programs.

1. Educational Qualifications

• B.Sc. Nursing / GNM from a recognized institution.
• Training in Cath Lab procedures

2. Experience

• Must have 2-4 years Experience in Cath Lab.
• Hands-on experience in assisting during angiography, angioplasty, device closure, pacemaker implantation, and other interventional cardiac procedures.

3. Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile techniques, Cath Lab protocols, and infection control practices.
• Proficiency in scrubbing, preparing, and handling surgical instruments during procedures.
• Familiarity with Cath Lab equipment, cardiac catheters, stents, and emergency drugs.
• Ability to anticipate surgeon’s needs and support during critical interventions.
• Good communication and teamwork skills with doctors, technicians, and other nurses.
• Competence in patient preparation, monitoring, and post-procedure nursing care.
