Scrap Yard In-Charge

Job Roles:

• Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of the scrap yard.
• Supervise staff handling collection, segregation, storage, and dispatch of scrap material.
• Maintain proper records of incoming and outgoing scrap.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety norms, and environmental regulations.
• Coordinate with suppliers, buyers, and transporters for timely scrap movement.
• Implement cost-effective practices to maximize scrap value recovery.
• Prevent theft, pilferage, and unauthorized scrap movement.
• Liaise with accounts/finance for scrap sale billing and reconciliation.

Responsibilities:

• Scrap Handling & Segregation
• Monitor proper collection and segregation of ferrous, non-ferrous, e-waste, plastic, paper, and other scrap.
• Ensure disposal as per company standards and statutory guidelines.
• Inventory & Documentation
• Maintain stock register/log of scrap materials.
• Generate daily, weekly, and monthly scrap reports.
• Keep records of weight, type, and value of scrap disposed.
• Sales & Dispatch
• Coordinate auctions/tenders or direct sales of scrap material.
• Verify buyer credentials and ensure proper documentation.
• Monitor dispatches to ensure correct material and weight.
• Safety & Compliance
• Ensure workers use PPE and follow safety protocols in the yard.
• Implement fire prevention and environmental safety measures.
• Comply with local municipal and pollution control board rules.
• Team Management
• Assign duties to helpers, loaders, and operators.
• Train staff in handling and sorting scrap safely.
• Monitor staff productivity and discipline.
• Loss Prevention
• Implement checks to prevent pilferage or under-weighing.
• Conduct surprise inspections and audits.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹24,000.00 per month
