Job Description

Role Overview: You will be an experienced Scientific Python Developer joining the team to focus on developing and maintaining innovative software tools for astronomy. Your role will involve leveraging quality control and AI algorithms to advance the study of astronomical objects, primarily through a network of digital telescopes. You will play a key role in building applications that run on server environments like AWS and Google Cloud Services. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and optimize scalable Python code for astronomical data processing and analysis. - Create back-end components to enhance responsiveness and overall performance, particularly in server environments like AWS or Google Cloud Services. - Integrate AI algorithms for advanced data analysis and interpretation in the field of astronomy. - Work on the integration of user-facing elements with server-side logic. - Test, debug, and refine the software to ensure its highest functionality and reliability. - Enhance and maintain the functionality of existing systems, with an emphasis on scalability and efficiency. - Implement robust security measures and data protection solutions. - Collaborate closely with internal teams to understand user requirements and deliver technical solutions that meet these needs. Qualifications: - Proven experience in Python development, with a focus on data processing and image analysis in scientific contexts. - Strong understanding of version control (git) for code management and its best practices. - Experience with server environments like AWS or Google Cloud Services, particularly in deploying and managing Python applications. - Proficiency in popular Python frameworks (e.g., NumPy, Django, Flask, Pyramid). - Knowledge of object-relational mapping (ORM) and familiarity with front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML5). - Strong background in AI and machine learning algorithms, especially as applied to astronomical data and research. - Excellent team collaboration skills and a knack for problem-solving. - Graduate in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with a strong preference for specialization in astronomy or related scientific disciplines.
