As a Stargazing Expert at Astroport, you will have the exciting opportunity to share your passion for astronomy and space science with others. Your responsibilities will include conducting live stargazing sessions for a variety of audiences, operating telescopes and other astronomy equipment, explaining celestial objects and events in an engaging manner, managing crowd interactions during events, and assisting in organizing astronomy-related programs and activities. You will be an integral part of a team dedicated to promoting astronomy education and providing space science experiences at different locations across India. Your enthusiasm for astronomy, strong communication and presentation skills, willingness to travel extensively, and ability to adapt to flexible work hours will be essential for success in this role. Previous teaching or public speaking experience would be advantageous. The selection process for this position will involve four rounds of interviews, including HR interaction, testing of astronomy knowledge, assessment of presentation skills, and final suitability evaluation. Upon selection, you will undergo a 12-month training period with hands-on field experience, accommodation, and food provided by the company. An accommodation and food deposit of 15,000 is required during training, which is refundable/adjustable. Following the training period, a probation period will be initiated with a salary of 25,000 plus non-monetary allowances. Upon successful completion of probation, the salary will increase to 35,000 with the same allowances. There will be opportunities to earn additional incentives through extra activities after probation. Please note that this role involves extensive travel and fieldwork, with work timings primarily scheduled for evenings and nights based on event schedules. Educational Technology Tools: Proficiency in using tools like simulations, planetarium software (e.g., Stellarium), space education apps, and interactive- learning platforms (e.g., NASA Eyes, Universe Sandbox). Hands-on Activity Design: Experience with integrating educational tools (e.g., telescopes, 3D models related to space science, or VR experiences) into learning programs.
