Position Title: Science Lab Assistant

Job Purpose

The Science Lab Assistant is responsible for supporting effective science teaching and learning by maintaining laboratory facilities, preparing materials for practical activities, and ensuring a safe, organized, and hygienic laboratory environment for students and teachers.

Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Support & Operations

• Prepare laboratory apparatus, chemicals, and materials for practical classes and demonstrations
• Assist teachers during practical sessions and experiments
• Ensure proper setup and dismantling of lab equipment before and after classes
• Label, store, and handle chemicals and equipment safely as per safety guidelines

Laboratory Maintenance & Safety

• Maintain cleanliness, order, and hygiene in the science laboratory
• Ensure all safety norms are followed, including proper use of safety equipment
• Report damaged or faulty equipment to the concerned authority
• Assist in maintaining first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, and safety charts

Inventory & Record Keeping

• Maintain stock registers for chemicals, glassware, and equipment
• Monitor usage and inform the authorities about requirements for replenishment
• Assist in annual stock verification and audits
• Maintain proper documentation of lab procedures and safety records

Student Support

• Guide students on proper handling of laboratory equipment
• Promote safe laboratory practices and discipline
• Support students during projects, exhibitions, and science fairs

Institutional Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up laboratories for inspections and CBSE compliance
• Participate in school activities, science exhibitions, and academic events
• Attend staff meetings, training programs, and safety workshops
• Support the school’s academic and safety standards

Qualifications

• Graduate / Senior Secondary (10+2) with Science background
• Diploma or certification in Laboratory Technology preferred
• Knowledge of basic laboratory safety and handling procedures

Experience

• Prior experience as a Science Lab Assistant in a school or college preferred
• Freshers with strong science knowledge and lab-handling skills may be considered

Skills & Competencies

• Basic knowledge of physics, chemistry, and biology laboratory procedures
• Ability to handle laboratory equipment and chemicals safely
• Good organizational and record-keeping skills
• Attention to detail and safety consciousness
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
