School Counselor and SEL Instructor

As a counselor and SEL Instructor at iTeach Schools, your primary objective is to ensure an excellent education for students from low-income communities by wearing multiple hats in your role. You will be responsible for three main aspects: Personal Counseling of students (approximately 50% time): - Conduct formal psychological assessments to provide a provisional diagnosis. - Identify academic and other gaps to address student needs effectively. - Offer Personal Counseling sessions to assist students in overcoming emotional, social, or behavioral challenges. - Maintain detailed documentation of cases to establish a qualitative and quantitative database for reference. Social Emotional Learning Instruction (approximately 40% time): - Lead Social Emotional Learning Classes for all grades in the school, working with groups of 30-40 students. - Foster a positive and supportive classroom culture that emphasizes the development of socio-emotional skills. - Utilize existing resources and create innovative Sessions and Unit Plans to conduct engaging SEL sessions effectively. Coaching school team and parents on handling students with special needs (approximately 10% time): - Collaborate with the School Principal and Vice-Principal to provide guidance to teachers and school staff on best practices for including and supporting students with special needs. - Offer coaching sessions to parents on strategies to support students with special needs effectively. Prerequisites: - Required: Masters Degree with a specialization in psychology and/or counseling. - Required: 2 - 3 years of work experience in personal/student counseling. - Preferred: Experience working with adolescent students. Compensation and Benefits: iTeach Schools offers competitive compensation and benefits tailored to match the candidate's education and work experience.
