Role: SAP ABAP Consultant with BTP Experience

Role & responsibilities:

The SAP ABAP Consultant will be responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing ABAP-based solutions to support SAP MDG implementation with integration on SAP BTP. The role involves building custom objects, data services, workflows, and APIs to enable seamless master data governance processes across Business Partner and Material Master domains. The consultant will collaborate with functional teams, integration teams, and business stakeholders to deliver high-performance, scalable, and maintainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and enhance custom ABAP objects (Reports, Function Modules, Classes, Enhancements, BADIs, BAPIs, User Exits) to support MDG processes. • Design and build data replication and transformation logic for MDG data distribution. • Develop custom BRF+ rules, enhancements, and derivations to support MDG Change Request processes. • Work on SAP BTP (Cloud Foundry & ABAP Environment) to build scalable integration and extension solutions. • Develop OData services / REST APIs for external system integration. • Work on Data Migration objects and programs for initial load of Business Partner and Material Master data. • Build interfaces to integrate with ECC, S/4HANA, and non-SAP systems. • Collaborate with functional MDG team to implement workflow enhancements and custom validations.

• Perform unit testing, support SIT/UAT, and resolve defects.
  • Provide technical documentation and support post go-live.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5–10 years of total experience in SAP ABAP development. • Minimum 2+ years of experience in SAP MDG projects (Business Partner / Material Master domains). • Strong expertise in ABAP on S/4HANA including CDS views, AMDP, BOPF, and enhancements. • Hands-on experience with SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) — especially ABAP Environment (Steampunk), CAP / RAP, or side-by-side extensions. • Experience in building and consuming OData services and integration via REST APIs. • Proficient in BADI, BAPI, User Exits, and Enhancement Framework. • Working knowledge of Data Replication Framework (DRF) and ALE/IDOC. • Familiarity with BRF+, Workflow, and FPM integration with ABAP. • Strong debugging and performance optimization skills. • Excellent communication and coordination skills with functional and integration teams.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to MDG Consolidation and Mass Processing enhancements. • Experience with Fiori and UI5 integration with ABAP back-end. • Familiarity with event-driven architectures on BTP (Event Mesh, Integration Suite). • Knowledge of SAP Cloud Connector and destination setup. • SAP Certified Development Associate – ABAP or BTP certification.
