Safety Officer

Job Summary:

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant working environment within the shipyard. The role involves implementing safety policies, monitoring work practices, conducting inspections, and promoting a strong safety culture among all personnel engaged in shipbuilding, repair, and maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement and monitor compliance with safety rules, procedures, and regulations at the shipyard.
• Conduct daily site inspections and identify unsafe acts, conditions, and potential hazards.
• Ensure all personnel use appropriate PPE and follow established safety protocols.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety training, and awareness programs for workers and supervisors.
• Maintain and update safety records, permits, and inspection reports.
• Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and client safety teams to ensure safe execution of work.
• Verify work permits (hot work, confined space entry, lifting operations, etc.) before job commencement.
• Support emergency preparedness activities including drills and first-aid coordination.
• Promote continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Diploma or Degree in Engineering or Industrial Safety.
• Certification in NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA / Diploma in Industrial Safety (mandatory/preferred as per client requirement).
• 3–5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in shipbuilding, oil & gas, or heavy engineering industries.
• Knowledge of shipyard safety standards, risk assessment, and incident investigation.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
