Routing/IP Software Engineering - New Grad

Role Overview: As a Software Engineer at Ciena, you will be a part of the engineering team responsible for developing the newly acquired Service Aware Operating System (SAOS) to support customers in building and deploying virtualized networks. You will work under the guidance of a Mentor and be provided with extensive learning opportunities. Key Responsibilities: - Utilize excellent analytical, problem-solving, and programming skills in languages such as C, C++, and Python - Demonstrate strong communication and technical documentation skills - Exhibit proficient organization skills to effectively manage time, resources, and priorities - Have familiarity with the Linux development environment - Apply knowledge of network routers/switches and routing protocols like OSPF and BGP - Engage in open-source software development and utilize automated test frameworks like Jenkins - Work with design and development tools such as Atlassian, Eclipse, and GDB - Contribute to all stages of software development including requirements analysis, design, implementation, and testing - Develop unit tests and test-automation suites - Collaborate with Product Owners and System Architects to enhance software applications - Influence software architecture to improve resiliency, debuggability, and maintainability Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent - Experience in embedded software development on the Vyatta SAOS - Ability to work independently while being a team player - Comfortable managing priorities to achieve business objectives Additional Company Details: Ciena is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where employees are valued, respected, and heard.
