What You Will Do You will assist our clients, get the most out of our software, and use the knowledge gained from these interactions to continuously enhance our software, we are searching for an experienced, imaginative, and bright application engineer to join our Mechanical Application Engineering Group. We are particularly aiming to expand our Mechanical Application Engineering team. This team assists our clients in using our GT-SUITE software platform to simulate the operation of electric motors, pumps, and compressors as well as whole 3-D vehicle systems and vehicle powertrains. Evaluate and resolve technical support requests submitted via email, phone, or other channels. Be the first line of defense in solving customer support requests and coordinating and prioritizing timely resolution independently and with the engagement of DevOps teams. Develop a comprehensive understanding of typical business challenges faced by customers and common objectives to appropriately map features and associated business benefits to address their needs. Serve as a customer advocate in shaping and driving the Drive Train &Vehicle Mechanics product roadmap, enhancements, and improvements; Conduct independent research aimed at designing and defining new software features and functionality. Facilitate customer trainings to ensure customer satisfaction and retention as well as maximum usage of our product. Identify trends and inefficiencies to enhance support processes and improve the user experience. Mentor, coach, and train new team members. Support of evaluation projects for potential new customers. Support of internal software development and validation of new models and features. Develop customer-tailored simulation workflows and methodologies using GT-SUITE. Participation in specialist conferences and working groups. What You Will Bring Masters degree in automotive, mechanical, process, aerospace engineering, etc. 3 years of work experience designing powertrains and/or engines, including measurement and instrumentation, and controls is highly preferred; entry level candidates are welcome to apply. Previous participation in SAE student competitions (g. Formula SAE, Formula Hybrid) or activities in similar societies or consortiums is also a benefit. Technical expertise in the following, used to support current and prospective customers: Gear Design Electrified Powertrains Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) Experience with the following: Transmission and geartrain applications, research, and/or commercial software tools (e.g., SABR, Romax, Masta, KISSsoft) Flexible Bodies and Finite Element methods and tools (e.g., Abaqus, Altair, Ansys, Nastran, FEARCE) 3-D MBD software (e.g., MSC Adams, Simpack) skills are an advantage Programming skills are an advantage (Matlab, Python, etc.) What we Can Offer You Dynamic and highly talented team of experts. Application Engineers represent the technical face of the company to its customers and will play vital role in translating customer expectations into sound and successful technical proposal on the behalf of ORBIT Key responsibilities include: Be responsible to manage excellent technical relations with the companys customers – especially with R&D and Quality Management functions. Collect, document, and interpret application requirements of the customers for new projects and align the same with the internal functions at Orbit to build comprehensive and qualitative design input. Work on modelling of rolling bearings and drive systems, carry out detailed calculations including – but not limited to load and stress distribution, and running dynamic simulations using advanced software like Romax. Interpret, verify results from the software, assess performance outcomes of various design alternatives and present optimum solution with the goal of creating real value for the customers. Together with R&D team, develop new and innovative designs for new customer projects or make a proposal to redesign an existing solution for enhanced performance. Present design solutions to customers concisely with clarity on the application concept, design criteria , product features and performance estimation. Be part of the Company’s product development team that drives APQP process – and ensure success of the product development in terms of quality , speed, and performance . Maintain close contacts with customers to identify and pursue opportunities. Coordinate with internal functions and sales teams to convert opportunities in business acquisition. Obtain quick and accurate understanding of the performance issues reported by customers. Act with alacrity following Gemba rules , adopt a strong problem-solving approach to analyse the root cause . Work with the customer and the company’s internal teams to ensure effective closure of these problems Lead the team to carry out deep returned part analysis and coordinate the outcome with internal teams and with the customers. Represent Orbit at new customers , and during seminars and exhibitions through impactful visits and presentations. Education: Must: B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering with excellent academic track record And: Masters in Engineering preferred Skills : Strong Engineering Competence Thorough understanding of automotive power train Proficiency in modelling and simulation software – Romax or similar Technical Problem-solving skills with hands on approach, Good communication and documentation skills. Experience : 3 to 7 years of R&D / application engineering experience in Bearings and or power train components.
