Key Responsibilities Design roll tooling for manufacturing steel tubes of round, square, rectangular, and custom profiles. Develop roll pass schedules and forming sequences for various tube sizes and wall thicknesses. Use CAD/CAM software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, COPRA, or equivalent) to design forming rolls, breakdown rolls, fin passes, sizing rolls, and turks head rolls. Work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure correct implementation of roll sets. Optimize tooling layouts to minimize roll wear, energy consumption, and production defects (like ovality, weld seam misalignment, or surface marks). Support roll shop personnel with machining instructions, assembly drawings, and tooling data. Evaluate and troubleshoot problems in the forming process and suggest improvements in roll design. Maintain a database of roll designs, manufacturing history, and design revisions. Collaborate with vendors or internal tool rooms for roll manufacturing and quality assurance. Follow industry standards (e.g., ASTM, EN) and customer specifications for dimensional accuracy and tolerances. Provide technical training to operators and tooling staff as needed. Required Qualifications & Skills Diploma or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering / Metallurgy. 15–22 years of experience in roll design for tube mills, cold roll forming, or pipe manufacturing. Strong knowledge of tube mill operations, welding processes (e.g., HF welding), and roll forming principles. Proficiency in CAD/CAM tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or specialized roll design software like COPRA, UBE, or PROFIL). Understanding of steel grades, mechanical properties, and forming behavior. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, tolerances, and customer specs. Problem-solving mindset and hands-on approach to troubleshooting forming issues. Good communication and documentation skills.
