Job Description

As a Simulation Lead at Rapyuta Robotics, an ETH Zurich startup based in Tokyo with a growing presence in Chennai, your role will be pivotal in advancing simulation capabilities to support product development and business analysis. You will have the opportunity to define simulation strategies, develop ROS-supported fleet simulations for complex multi-robot systems, and create transparent simulation experiences that provide decision-grade outputs. Responsibilities: - Define strategies for running simulations across different environments such as on-premises, cloud, or hybrid setups with a focus on scale, reliability, and cost control. - Consolidate and standardize simulation methods to streamline processes and reduce complexity. - Lead the development of ROS-supported fleet simulation capabilities to simulate and validate complex robot fleet behavior and performance. - Design and implement full-stack integration testing through simulation to validate end-to-end system interactions. - Identify bottlenecks and enhance performance in terms of throughput, latency, and multi-robot coordination efficiency. - Design and implement distributed simulation setups for higher concurrent robot counts and realistic fleet scenarios. - Optimize simulation workflows for computational efficiency while ensuring accuracy in physics and system fidelity. - Build usability features such as real-time feedback, simple configuration updates, clear logs, and a live dashboard experience. - Provide early estimation signals and quality gates to identify and address issues before field deployment. - Ensure accurate modeling of new product functions and their reflection in automated simulations. - Collaborate with engineering, product, and field stakeholders to prioritize scenarios and align simulation outputs with decision needs. - Balance scale, performance, and costs effectively based on requirements. Minimum Qualifications: - At least 7 years of experience in simulation or related fields with hands-on ownership of simulation strategy and delivery. - Strong proficiency in ROS1/ROS2 and robotics simulation stacks, including expertise in fleet simulation and multi-agent systems. - Proficient programming skills for simulation tooling and automation (preferably Python, C++). - Proven track record in measuring and enhancing latency, throughput, and resource utilization in complex systems. - Ability to translate product requirements into representative scenarios, oracles, and pass-fail criteria. Preferred Qualifications: - Deep experience with ROS simulation tools and frameworks for multi-robot fleet scenarios. - Knowledge of full-stack integration testing through simulation environments. - Familiarity with cost-aware design in cloud or hybrid environments, including workload scheduling and caching. - Understanding of robotics navigation, mapping, and coordination algorithms in simulation contexts. - Comfortable collaborating across product, platform, and field teams.
