Position Overview The Airfreight Manager will oversee all air import and export operations for Robinsons’ Mumbai branch. This role is responsible for managing the airfreight team, ensuring compliance with IATA standards, negotiating rates with Airlines, master loaders and GSAs, coordinating with shippers and overseas agents. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, operational expertise, advanced vendor management skills, and must be DG Certified with a basic knowledge of GDP standards. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Operations Supervise and develop the airfreight team, ensuring efficient daily operations for both imports and exports. Oversee the full cycle of air cargo procedures, including booking, documentation, and cargo tracking. Ensure compliance with IATA regulations, DG handling, and company policies. Conduct staff training and performance reviews. Customer Service & Coordination Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, shippers, and overseas agents. Resolve customer queries and complaints promptly, ensuring high service standards. Coordinate with local shippers and consignees for smooth cargo movement. Pricing, Negotiation & Vendor Management Negotiate rates and space allocations with Airlines, master loaders and GSAs. Develop and implement pricing strategies to maximize profitability. Oversee vendor performance and ensure SLAs are met. Documentation & Compliance Oversee the preparation and accuracy of all shipping documents (AWB, invoices, etc.). Ensure adherence to customs, regulatory requirements, and DG regulations for air cargo. Specialized Shipments Manage the handling of pharmaceutical shipments, ensuring compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and GDP guidelines. Required Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s degree IATA certification in air cargo management or equivalent. DG (Dangerous Goods) Certification. Basic knowledge of GDP (Good Distribution Practice) standards. Minimum 10 years’ experience in airfreight operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial role. Proven expertise in handling pharma shipments. Strong negotiation, vendor management, communication, and leadership skills. In-depth knowledge of air cargo documentation and regulatory compliance.
