The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of paddy procurement cycles, mandi operations, quality assessment, and pricing dynamics , and a proven track record of working in listed or reputed companies in the rice industry. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the end-to-end procurement of rice and basmati paddy in bulk quantities. Develop direct sourcing channels from farmers, mandis (APMCs), stockists, and wholesalers . Negotiate and finalize procurement contracts and pricing terms. Monitor market trends, crop forecasts, and mandi arrivals to plan purchases effectively. Ensure quality standards and liaise with quality control teams during procurement. Build a reliable network of vendors and maintain strong relationships. Work with internal departments (Supply Chain, Finance, Production) to ensure timely availability and cost optimization. Stay updated on government policies , MSP, and other regulatory norms affecting paddy trade. Prepare procurement MIS and report to senior management regularly. Candidate Profile: Education: Graduate/Postgraduate in Agriculture, Supply Chain, or related field. Experience: Minimum 10 years in rice/paddy procurement and trading; direct exposure to mandi and paddy markets essential. Strong network of suppliers across Punjab, Haryana, UP, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Andhra, Telangana , or other rice-producing states. Prior experience working with listed companies or large trading organizations is preferred. Good negotiation, leadership, and analytical skills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring quality standards are maintained from procurement through warehousing, production, and dispatch , ensuring consistency, compliance, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Incoming Materials (Rice + Beverages) Inspect raw materials (grains, ingredients, packaging materials) against approved quality specs Analyse samples of supplier batches & prepare reports based on visual checks, lab testing & documentation Perform moisture, physical purity parameters (broken grain, foreign matter, admixtures, chaffy, discoloration & contamination tests) and sensory tests for rice; check beverage inputs (sweeteners, acids, flavorings) as required Coordinate with procurement and suppliers for corrective actions and replacements Storage & Warehousing Conduct regular quality checks for raw materials and finished goods in storage Monitor temperature, humidity, pest control, and hygiene in warehouses and cold storage areas Ensure FIFO/FEFO systems are followed to prevent quality deterioration or expiry risks Maintain storage logs and shelf-life tracking for perishable ingredients (esp. for beverages). Production & Processing Units Monitor rice milling and polishing for grain uniformity, damages, admixtures and aroma For beverages oversee carbonation, blending, and filling lines to ensure: Correct ingredient ratios No contamination CO\u2082 levels and Brix (sweetness) measurements are within spec Conduct periodic line checks for hygiene, machine calibration, and batch traceability Maintain GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and sanitation protocols Dispatches & Customer Returns Approve final product batches post-QC for dispatch Verify packaging integrity, label accuracy, and seal conditions Address order returns and customer complaints with root-cause analysis and documentation Maintain traceability logs and corrective/preventive action records (CAPA) Lab Coordination & Documentation Coordinate with external NABL-accredited labs for periodic quality audits as required (e.g., pesticide residue, heavy metals, moisture levels) Maintain quality inspection records, batch reports, and internal audit logs Ensure compliance with FSSAI , APEDA , and other food safety regulations Requirements Requirements & Skills Bachelors or Diploma in Food Technology , Agriculture, Food Science or related fields 2-4 years of quality control experience in food/beverage manufacturing or FMCG Knowledge of: Rice grading, milling, moisture testing, physical purity & quality analysis Beverage carbonation processes and microbial standards GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSAI norms Strong documentation, audit-readiness, and problem-solving skills Knowledge of & comfortable working with lab instruments, moisture meters, Brix refractometers, CO\u2082 testers, etc.
