As a Senior Game Designer at Flecks Labs, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the core experience of our games, encompassing everything from intricate systems and mechanics to the moment-to-moment gameplay. Collaborating closely with developers, artists, and founders, you will bring our vision to life in the form of captivating gameplay. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a dynamic, experimental setting and are adept at multitasking across various design domains, including mechanics, progression, balancing, and even user experience when necessary. In this role, your responsibilities will include: - Taking ownership of the core gameplay loop, systems design, and player progression for both new projects and existing games. - Generating and presenting ideas, developing rapid prototypes, and refining them based on feedback and performance metrics. - Working in tandem with developers to translate conceptual designs into polished and responsive mechanics. - Crafting and managing comprehensive design documentation such as Game Design Documents (GDDs), spreadsheets, and balance sheets. - Contributing to the formulation of monetization strategies and live operations events that enhance the player experience. - Fine-tuning and balancing gameplay elements using a combination of data analysis, intuition, and playtesting. - Staying informed about gaming trends, particularly in the realms of social, casual, and lightweight multiplayer gaming spaces. The ideal candidate will possess: - 4+ years of game design experience, including at least one shipped title in a lead or senior capacity. - A keen understanding of player experience and flow, with the ability to create enjoyable gameplay. - Proficiency in rapid prototyping using various tools, spreadsheets, or mockups. - Prior experience in designing games tailored for short-session, high-retention player engagement is highly desirable. - Sound knowledge of game economies, progression systems, and reward structures. - Comfort working within small, agile teams that emphasize individual ownership and accountability. - Bonus: Previous experience in designing games for platforms like Facebook Instant Games, Discord, WebGL, or similar messenger-based ecosystems.
