As a Teacher at SLII, your role is pivotal in supporting students to achieve their academic potential. You will have the most frequent and direct contact with students, making the manner in which you carry out your duties crucial to the learning process. It is expected that you will be a positive role model to your students, providing them with effective learning environments. Key Responsibilities: - Teaching assigned classes and/or subjects - Co-curricular program Major Tasks: - Plan a learning program consistent with the school's philosophy and goals - Create a classroom environment conducive to learning - Implement school policies on classroom behavior - Regularly assess and report on students" academic progress - Contribute to curriculum development in your subject area - Stay updated with pedagogical developments Qualifications and Competencies: - Appropriate academic qualifications - Sound knowledge of student learning needs - Use of a wide variety of pedagogical techniques and assessment methods - Time management and organizational skills Key Personal Qualities: - Ability to work as part of a team - Effective communication skills - Hardworking and detail-oriented - Strong interpersonal skills - Tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality Judgement and Decision Making: - Make decisions in the best interests of SLII - Use initiative and discretion within the role's parameters - Know when to seek advice from others Specific Tasks: - Employ a variety of teaching strategies - Display student work and relevant material in the classroom - Assist new students in settling into the classroom environment - Apply school rules consistently and fairly - Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities - Maintain attendance records and enforce school policies - Prepare detailed lesson plans catering to different student abilities - Liaise with the SEN dept to support students with special needs - Comply with the school's assessment policy and meet reporting deadlines - Uphold SLII's policies and establish positive relationships with staff and parents - Continue professional growth through workshops and training programs - Carry out residential duties as required, including supervision and pastoral responsibilities - Contribute to curriculum development and maintain up-to-date plans - Accompany students on field trips and engage with parents to support their children's learning Please note that the above job description is for all teachers at the school.
