Role Overview
The Research Scholar will support applied research, knowledge creation, documentation, and innovation-oriented activities of the Centre. The role involves research execution, preparation of technical and analytical outputs, support to training and outreach activities, and contribution to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting tasks. Key Responsibilities
  • Support 1–2 flagship research studies per year under guidance of senior researchers.
  • Prepare research notes, policy briefs, technical documents, case studies, and summaries.
  • Assist in developing training materials, manuals, presentations, and course content.
  • Support organisation of webinars, workshops, and consultations, including background research, coordination, and documentation.
  • Compile field notes, interview summaries, datasets, and assist in qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
  • Contribute to baseline studies, impact assessments, and annual research and performance reports.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Geomatics, Geospatial Technology, Geography, or a related discipline.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in research, policy analysis, documentation, or academic / think-tank projects.
  • Exposure to applied research, digital systems, or spatial data–driven projects is desirable.
Key Skills and Competencies
  • Strong research, analytical, and academic writing skills.
  • Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or equivalent tools.
  • Ability to synthesise complex information into clear technical and analytical documents.
  • Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods.
  • Proficiency in MS Office / Google Workspace; familiarity with data analysis tools is an advantage.
  • Good coordination, documentation, and presentation skills.
