Additionally, you must ensure continuous professional development for department staff through workshops and training. Curriculum Planning & Implementation: Your role involves designing and implementing a challenging and engaging curriculum for IGCSE and IBDP Visual Arts students. You will develop and oversee art exhibitions, projects, and events to showcase student work, while keeping up-to-date with curriculum changes and best practices in art education. Monitoring and assessing student progress, providing guidance and support where necessary, are essential tasks. Teaching & Mentoring: As needed, you will teach Visual Arts classes, ensuring a high level of engagement and student-centered learning. Guiding and mentoring students in the creation of their IGCSE and IBDP art portfolios is part of your responsibilities. Encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and artistic exploration among students and providing individual feedback and support to help them reach their full potential are key aspects of your role. Administrative & Operational Duties: Efficiently managing the department budget and resources, ensuring materials and equipment are maintained, is vital. You will coordinate with other academic departments and contribute to the broader academic community. Supporting the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new art teachers and ensuring compliance with school policies, safeguarding, and health and safety regulations in the art studios are also part of your duties. Community Engagement & Outreach: Building strong relationships with parents, students, and the school community to promote the Visual Arts program is essential. You will organize and manage art exhibitions, workshops, and events to engage the school community and external audiences. Developing partnerships with local artists, galleries, and cultural institutions for enrichment opportunities is encouraged. Key Qualifications: To excel in this role, you should hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Art Education, or a related field. A teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) with a focus on Visual Arts is necessary, along with proven experience in teaching IGCSE and IBDP Visual Arts. Leadership or management experience within an educational setting is preferred.
