As a Database Migration Specialist, you will be responsible for leading end-to-end database migrations across on-premises, virtualized, and cloud environments, encompassing SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB workloads. Your role will involve designing and implementing migration strategies using a combination of native and third-party tools such as pg_dump, pg_restore, mongodump, mongorestore, BACPAC, and replication utilities. These strategies will be optimized for performance, availability, and minimal downtime. You will conduct thorough assessments of both the source and target environments, considering factors like data volume, schema complexity, compatibility, and transformation requirements, especially in cases like SQL Server to Postgres migrations. Additionally, you will be responsible for defining and validating Low-Level Designs (LLDs) that include network topology, storage configurations, replication methods, access controls, and disaster recovery setups. In this role, you will orchestrate wave-based migration plans, ensuring the implementation of data validation processes, rollback mechanisms, and cutover strategies that are in line with business Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
