As a Staff Design Engineer on the Spectrum Design System team at Adobe Design, you will have the exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of high-quality, well-designed mobile user interfaces for Android applications. You will collaborate with multi-functional teams of engineers and designers to address complex design and engineering challenges, ensuring design precision and consistency across Adobe's products. Your responsibilities will include working closely with the design team to integrate Spectrum's visual aesthetic and user experience into Android component libraries, while maintaining a user-friendly API. You will lead architectural discussions, provide technical guidance, and ensure alignment across different product teams. Additionally, you will partner with internal product teams to implement and support Spectrum in Adobe's products, as well as communicate engineering concerns to the design team. To succeed in this role, you must have a specialist understanding of building performant UI components in the Android ecosystem, with experience in Android Studio, Kotlin, and Java. You should be passionate about building user interface components with meticulous attention to design details and have experience in supporting frameworks or SDKs used by developers. Proficiency in git, GitHub, and UI accessibility practices is essential, along with a strong collaboration mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Experience with open development practices, code reviews, and driving improvements to library architecture and testing processes will be beneficial. Familiarity with design systems, build and release methods, and working with partners to inform product roadmap planning are considered nice-to-have qualifications.
