Ensure that all incoming materials meet the required specifications for the production of high-quality steel. Oversee the melting process in furnaces (electric arc furnaces, induction furnaces, etc.) to ensure proper temperature and alloy composition are maintained. Conduct real-time monitoring of parameters like temperature, pressure, and chemical composition to achieve the desired steel grade. Perform sampling of molten steel at various stages to analyze its chemical composition (e.g., carbon, manganese, sulfur, phosphorus content). Use spectrometry and other testing methods to verify that the steel meets the required specifications. Carry out mechanical tests such as tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and hardness to determine the material properties of the steel. Analyze the results of mechanical tests to ensure steel quality and suitability for its intended use. Perform metallographic analysis to assess the microstructure of steel (grain size, phase composition, etc.) and identify any potential defects. Ensure that the steel’s microstructure aligns with the desired quality standards for strength, ductility, and other performance characteristics. Utilize various non-destructive testing methods such as ultrasonic testing, radiography, and magnetic particle testing to detect surface and internal defects in steel products.
