Job Description

As a Primary School Teacher, you will be supervised by the head of the primary school, and ultimately responsible to the principal. In addition to meeting the requirements outlined in your individual appointment terms and conditions of service, you will have specific responsibilities to fulfill. You are expected to maintain a personal and professional commitment to the school's core values, including upholding professional ethical standards with a focus on confidentiality. Your duties and responsibilities will include effectively communicating with parents alongside the head of the primary school and the PYP coordinator. You will actively participate in the design, development, implementation, and review of assessment and reporting systems. Supporting the school in implementing best practices for primary education, engaging in professional development, and contributing to staff training and meetings are crucial aspects of your role. Collaboration with colleagues to build strong professional relationships, efficient communication with parents regarding students" achievements and well-being, and maintaining accurate data for grading reports are essential tasks. You will be responsible for upholding high standards of instruction supported by research, fostering students" critical thinking abilities, utilizing diverse resources, and empowering students to take ownership of their learning. Furthermore, you will dedicate additional time to students who require academic support or a more challenging curriculum, ensure that students with learning differences have appropriate programs, and deliver the curriculum in alignment with the age group and subjects you teach. Enhancing the professional standing of the teaching body, understanding students" capabilities, prior knowledge, and planning teaching strategies and differentiation accordingly are integral aspects of your role. To qualify for this position, you must hold a teaching qualification, a relevant degree, and have experience with the IB Primary Years Programme. Proficiency in spoken English is a prerequisite. Desirable qualifications include prior experience teaching the PYP, particularly in early years education, proficiency in teaching phonics and reading skills, participation in PYP-focused professional development, understanding of current research on children's learning, and the ability to motivate students effectively while managing a diverse workload.,
