Position: Manager / Senior Manager - Stores & Purchase Exp: 10 to 20 yrs Qualification: Any UG / PG Job Location : Periyanayakanpalayam The Manager Stores cum Purchase is responsible for managing all activities related to procurement, inventory management, and stores operations in the Iron Casting Foundry industry. This role involves ensuring the availability of raw materials, tools, and equipment needed for production while managing costs and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. Key Responsibilities: Procurement & Purchase Management: Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with reliable vendors and suppliers for casting materials, Molds, chemicals, and other foundry-related materials. Material Procurement: Oversee the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials like iron, sand, binders, core-making materials, and other necessary items. Purchase Orders: Review and approve purchase requisitions, create purchase orders, negotiate pricing, and ensure compliance with company purchasing policies. Supplier Evaluation: Evaluate suppliers based on quality, delivery performance, and cost-effectiveness. Conduct regular supplier audits and performance reviews. Market Research: Keep up to date with market trends, new suppliers, and industry advancements that may benefit the foundrys operations. Stores & Inventory Management: Inventory Control: Maintain optimal stock levels, ensuring availability of critical materials while avoiding overstocking. Stock Monitoring: Monitor and control stock levels of raw materials, semi-finished products, and tools, ensuring inventory turns are optimized. Warehouse Organization: Ensure that materials are properly stored, labelled, and easy to access. Oversee proper handling and storage of hazardous materials. FIFO Methodology: Implement FIFO (First-In-First-Out) practices to minimize material wastage and stock obsolescence. Inventory Audits: Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliations to ensure accurate stock levels and prevent discrepancies. Documentation & Reporting: Purchase Records: Maintain accurate records of all purchases, deliveries, and suppliers. Ensure compliance with legal and company standards. Reports: Generate reports on material consumption, inventory levels, supplier performance, and cost analyses for management review. Cost Tracking: Track and report the total costs of materials and supplies to ensure budget adherence. Team Management: Team Supervision: Lead and manage a team of storekeepers and purchasing staff. Delegate tasks effectively and ensure efficient day-to-day operations. Training & Development: Train store and purchase team members on best practices, safety standards, and operational procedures. Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve any issues related to inventory, vendor disputes, or delivery delays. Coordination with Production: Production Requirements: Liaise with the production team to understand material requirements, delivery schedules, and quality standards. Raw Material Delivery: Coordinate the timely delivery of raw materials to the production floor, ensuring that the production line operates without delays. Safety & Compliance: Safety Standards: Ensure that all store and procurement activities follow safety regulations, particularly for materials that require specific handling procedures (e.g., hazardous chemicals). Legal Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, procurement policies, and environmental regulations. Education: Diploma / Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred). Experience: Minimum of 10 to 20 years of experience in stores and procurement management, preferably in the foundry industry. Strong exp of procurement processes, vendor management, and inventory control in an industrial setting. Experience in handling raw materials for the foundry industry (iron, steel, sand, binders, etc.) is highly desirable. Skills: Strong negotiation skills and ability to establish relationships with suppliers. Proficiency in ERP and inventory management software (SAP, Oracle, ERP, etc.).
