Apart from making policy recommendations for government agencies, we build and recommend commercially viable models that attract interest and investments from private participants and impact investors. Therefore, we expect our recommendations will be more practical, implementable, operable, impactful, and also commercially self-sustainable. The centre is currently actively engaged in several pioneering projects and policy research activities in areas of electric vehicles, expansion of charging infrastructure, and assessment of alternative unconventional energy sources like tidal, and micro hydro and geothermal energy sources. We are also in the process of conducting an in-depth analysis of the battery recycling value chain aiming to enhance circular economy practices and promote sustainable resource utilisation. We are committed to collectively contribute to creating a cleaner, more efficient, and future-ready energy and mobility ecosystem in India. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage components of research projects related to clean energy transition pathways, electric mobility, energy storage systems, smart micro grids, battery recycling, critical minerals Supervise research associate, assistants and interns on project tasks and timelines Develop methodologies for data analysis, scenario modelling, or policy simulation as needed Produce publications including policy briefs, research reports, and peer-reviewed articles Coordinate with external collaborators including government stakeholders, industry partners, and other stakeholders Represent C-SEM at external forums, workshops, and conferences Qualifications PhD in public policy, energy studies, economics, engineering, urban planning, or environmental science Strong quantitative and/or qualitative research skills; experience with lifecycle assessment, risk assessment, modelling tools, GIS, or statistical software is an asset Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities Proven ability to work independently and lead research outputs to completion Preferred 5–8 years of demonstrated experience in conducting primary surveys, questionnaire designing, applied research, or policy advisory roles Prior experience in energy systems, mobility planning, transport electrification, or climate policy Project management experience in a research or think tank environment Publications or contributions to public policy discourse in India Show more Show less
