Evaluate the patient's respiratory status, oxygenation, and ventilatory needs. Ventilator Management: Set up and manage mechanical ventilators for patients requiring respiratory support. Monitor and adjust ventilator settings based on patient response and physician orders. Oxygen Therapy: Administer and monitor oxygen therapy for patients with respiratory insufficiency. Ensure proper oxygen delivery systems are in place and functioning effectively. Airway Management: Assist with airway management procedures, including intubation and extubation. Perform tracheostomy care and maintenance as needed. Therapeutic Interventions: Administer therapeutic aerosol medications and other respiratory treatments. Conduct chest physiotherapy and airway clearance techniques. Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions and therapeutic interventions. Provide instructions on home care and self-management of respiratory conditions. Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care. Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to patient care plans. Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of respiratory assessments and interventions. Record ventilator settings, oxygen levels, and patient responses. Emergency Response: Respond to respiratory emergencies in the critical care unit. Assist with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as needed.
