How you’ll make an impact: Electrical Engineer minimum Master of Engineering level and extensive knowledge of Power Systems studies and modelling of electrical network /HVDC/FACT Understanding and design of Electrical Power Systems and controls Preferably knowledge on IEC/IEEE standards Preferably Understanding application of Power Electronics in HV/EHV system like HVDC and FACTS and proven skills in using computers as a calculation tool. Preferably experience of power system simulation tools such as PSSE, EMTDC /PSCAD, Power Factory and calculations in Matlab / Mathcad Strong interpersonal communication skill, Fluent English Extensive knowledge of Power Systems equipment and their purpose, such as Power Transformers, Capacitors, Reactors, Instrument Transformer and measuring equipment, Circuit Breakers, Disconnector, Surge Arrester etc. Knowledge in selection, sizing and integration of above equipment based on customer functional specification. To successfully take on this position, you need to be thorough and structured with a high technical interest and strive for good solutions within the set time limits. You will be involved in projects, tenders, base work. To grow with each task, enabling yourself to develop and take more and more responsibility. Role Objectives Engineering Excellence: To deliver power systems study projects meeting high quality standards and drive technical excellence in the team. Advanced Analysis:To bring engineering capabilities to static and dynamic power system studies. Project Management:Manage tasks to meet budget, quality, and timeframe targets, driving re-engineering strategies to enhance profitability. Role Accountabilities The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: Preparing and reviewing engineering deliverables including complex reports, proposals, presentations with the GBA Power Delivery Team. Conducting power system transient studies, including insulation coordination, switching transients, and motor starting. Conducting power flow, short circuit, reactive power, and power quality studies, including grid compliance studies for renewables. Taking personal responsibility for the preparation of detailed engineering documentation and leading the engineering effort for project including providing technical and performance oversight for members of the power team. To manage selected projects, project task/responsibilities as assigned, and/or design processes (or parts of projects) to meet agreed budget, quality and timeframe targets. To deliver fully documented designs to meet Client objectives and Arcadis quality system requirements. To develop the technical competency of direct reports/ junior team members and ensure application of relevant international standards and engineering knowledge in various projects. TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Apply engineering knowledge, techniques and tools complying with international design standards relevant to the assigned project. Prepare technical report for the appropriate project complying with codes and standards and delivering the design with high quality. Conduct internal review and quality checks of power system models and simulation results to ensure compliance with the project's requirements. Prepare and register all relevant documentation and ensure all documentation is accurate and in compliance with the Arcadis and customer requirements. Leading interdisciplinary coordination as required for the project. COMMERCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Record man-hour charges in weekly timesheets and ensure correctness of project/non-project man-hour charges. Proactively manage selected projects, take responsibility for resource allocation, manage subcontractors, deliverables, ensure integrity of overall design in collaboration with other disciplines, QA, and Client feedback. Identify opportunities and driving implementation of re-engineering strategies to maximize the profitability. Pursuing new opportunities, identifying, and documenting scope, schedule, budget, and exclusions. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop skills and knowledge base of junior engineers assigned on projects. Liaise with Project Manager, client, vendors and other stakeholders assigned to projects. OTHERS: Liaise with Arcadis lead offices representatives and other consultants as appropriate to the project. Working to achieve project delivery on time to budget and to a high standard in accordance with Client expectations. Gain experience and proficiency in Arcadis systems and procedures. Become familiar and compliant with Health and Safety regulations and guidelines. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required relevant to the role from time to time. Qualifications & Experience At least 5 years experience in power system study projects, preferably in a consulting environment. Significant experience in EMT studies - insulation coordination, transient recovery voltage, and related Transient studies. Experience with PSCAD, EMTP-RV, PSSE, DigSilent PowerFactory, ETAP, or similar. Desirable to have skills in RMS dynamic stability studies, particularly grid connection studies for renewables. Ability to conduct and review the following studies independently - power flow, short circuit, harmonics, protection coordination, unit protection, arc flash. Consulting experience in power projects in Australia and UK is desirable. Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. Excellent mathematical skills applied in engineering calculations. Organizational skills and proactive approach in project management. Ability to lead, and provide technical solutions to problems with good influencing, motivating and delegating skills.
