Experienced in preparing technical specifications, design calculations, preparation of reports, drawings and bill of materials for HV power systems. Job Summary We are looking for Electrical Engineers with System Study experience to undertake engineering design roles for projects in the Transmission and Distribution sector primarily in the UK and Middle East. This is a great opportunity for a suitably qualified person with an engineering consultancy or energy sector background to gain further experience within an internationally renowned consultancy. Requirements In depth knowledge of conducting simulations and analytical studies for transmission and Distribution, Planning, load and generation interconnection, integration of renewables. Able to prepare simulation study models and carry out power system studies including but not limited to: Grid compliance studies for Wind, Solar, BESS and Hybrid projects. Steady state and Dynamic power flow analysis. Fault Ride Through studies. Short circuit calculation. Power quality analysis. Electro Magnetic Transient Analysis (EMTP) such as Switching and Lightning transient studies, Energization studies etc. Dynamic simulation of networks involving HVDC, FACTS and inverter based generation. Candidate should be able to carry out following protection calculation. Overcurrent and earth fault protection co-ordination for the transmission and distribution network. Unit protection calculation for Transformer, motor, busbar, generator etc. Lead and carry out consulting, research and development study projects. Analyse study results and recommend solutions as per requirements and able to discuss / clarify Clients with help of results. Prepare study reports and other technical documentation. Respond to request for proposals (RFP) by preparing proposals & estimation of man-hours. Mentoring junior staffs and able to provide training on subject of expertise. Present study results to Clients and deliver training courses on subject of expertise. Responsibilities Strong conceptualization ability, strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills are a must, including the capability to explain complex technical issues to decision-makers and project teams. Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills, be willing to travel, and work successfully in a customer focused, project-oriented environment. Mandatory Requirements Masters / Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of relevant industrial experience. Experience in system study softwares such as ETAP, DIgSILENT, PSCAD, etc. Desirable Requirements Knowledge of PSSE, MATLAB / Simulink and any other system study software. Competency in Python coding. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align AI/ML projects with key business functions in our digital grid business, with major stack holders as engineering, project operations, and senior management. In addition, support in execution of steady-state and dynamic contingency analyses using power flow models (PSSE, PowerFactory, PSCAD, VSAT, TSAT, or Powerworld). Support development of improved models for transmission planning and market forecasting processes. Assists in providing market simulation/forecasting and transmission planning analyses to support other activities in grid technology business. Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively. Lead and manage international teams, ensuring effective collaboration and knowledge sharing. We don’t need superheroes, just super minds: Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, OR equivalent industry experience with a strong demonstrable research background in AI/ML. Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics, with a focus on the energy sector, especially the transmission business. Proficiency in programming languages (Python, R, SQL) and data analytics tools (Pyspark, Databricks). Experience with deep learning frameworks (Keras, TensorFlow, Pytorch) and cloud computing (AWS). Prior experience in transmission planning and operational studies (100 kV ~ 765 kV), power system performance analyses including steady state analysis, dynamic stability, voltage stability, protection coordination and control system.
