Assistant Manager Proto Chassis & Bus Body Department: R&D Location: R&D Protoshop – Patancheru, Hyderabad Reporting to: Manager - Proto Experience: 7+ Years Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Automobile /Production Job Description Job Summary: A highly motivated and experienced Assistant Manager – Proto Chassis & Bus Body to lead and oversee all aspects of the bus body manufacturing process. This role involves managing the design, fabrication, assembly, and quality assurance of bus bodies, ensuring on-time delivery, adherence to specifications, and continuous improvement in production efficiency and safety. Key Responsibilities: Manage the complete Chassis & Sub assembly bus body build process including fabrication, welding, assembly, painting, and finishing. Develop and implement production plans, schedules, and resource allocation to meet delivery targets. Ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements throughout the build process. Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, supervisors, technicians, and shop floor workers. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focusing on productivity, waste reduction, and quality enhancement. Collaborate closely with design, procurement, quality, and logistics teams to optimize manufacturing flow. Oversee tooling, jigs, fixtures, and equipment maintenance for the body shop. Manage supplier relationships and vendor coordination related to body components and materials. Ensure adherence to workplace health and safety regulations and foster a culture of safety. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as build time, scrap rates, and defect rates; analyze and report progress. Facilitate training and skill development programs for team members. Lead problem-solving and root cause analysis activities for production issues. Key Competency: Strong knowledge of bus body engineering, materials (steel, aluminum, composites), welding processes, and assembly techniques. Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and safety standards. Excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills. Proficient in production planning and shop floor control tools.
