This role is ideal for someone with deep technical expertise in woven, denim, and knitted fabrics , coupled with strong negotiation, communication, and supplier management skills. As a key liaison between global buyers and textile suppliers, you will drive fabric innovation, optimize costs, and ensure top-tier quality and compliance. Fabric Development & Sourcing Develop and source innovative woven, denim, and knit fabrics based on buyer briefs and seasonal trends. Partner with domestic and international mills to identify cost-effective and sustainable materials. Conduct lab dips, hand-feel analysis, and bulk fabric evaluation aligned with brand aesthetics. Manage end-to-end sampling, from concept swatch to pre-production approval. 2. Fabric Costing & Commercial Negotiation Break down fabric cost components (yarn, construction, processing, finishing) and identify cost-saving opportunities. Negotiate with mills and vendors to achieve competitive pricing while meeting quality expectations. Support the merchandising team by aligning fabric costs with buyer budgets and delivery schedules. 3. Quality Assurance & Compliance Ensure all fabrics meet technical, aesthetic, and sustainability standards (AATCC, ISO, OEKO-TEX, GOTS, etc.). Collaborate with QA teams to conduct testing (physical and chemical) and resolve fabric-related quality issues. Maintain fabric test reports, compliance documentation, and up-to-date fabric libraries. 4. Merchandising Coordination & Communication Act as the bridge between design, merchandising, and sourcing teams to ensure smooth execution of fabric programs. Prepare detailed technical packs, fabric specs, and tracking reports for internal and buyer communication. Conduct mill evaluations, performance assessments, and factory audits where needed. ✅ Qualifications & Skills Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Textile Technology, Fashion Technology, or a related discipline. Experience: 5–6 years of hands-on experience in fabric development, sourcing, and costing (especially woven, denim, and knits). Prior experience working with global fashion brands (especially US/EU markets) is highly preferred. Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of fabric construction, yarns, dyeing, finishing, printing, and testing. Understanding of sustainability standards (e.g., organic cotton, BCI, recycled polyester). Familiarity with international compliance and testing protocols. Soft Skills: Strong negotiation and vendor management abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for supplier and client interactions. Proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-driven with a collaborative mindset. Digital Tools: Proficiency in MS Office Suite and PLM systems.
