The role involves engineering control logics and programs for FACTS solutions, requiring expertise in closed-loop control systems and electrical power systems theory. Responsibilities include creating technical user documentation, analyzing power system events, training clients, and collaborating on system development and commissioning, often involving extended site deputations with basic accommodations. You will be responsible for the engineering of control logics and programs for various FACTS solutions, demonstrating a solid understanding of closed-loop control systems. Your tasks will involve creating technical documents such as design reports, test reports, and operation & maintenance manuals. Additionally, you will analyze power system event records, provide training to external parties like clients, and work closely with the team for solution development and system testing & commissioning. Flexibility in taking over roles of other team members when required is essential. A strong knowledge of electrical power systems theory and practice is expected. Understanding the behavior of power systems during transient and sub-transient conditions, as well as familiarity with different types of FACTS devices and their roles in the power system, will be crucial for this role. Proficiency in principles of protective relaying, control systems, power electronic devices (such as thyristors and IGBTs), and power equipment (including power transformers, instrument transformers, capacitors, reactors, and circuit breakers) is required. Experience with programming tools like SIMATIC Manager, Python, MATLAB, and Programmable Logic Controllers like Siemens platforms using SIMATIC TDC is preferred. You will be responsible for commissioning FACTS installations at sites in India and abroad, with site deputations typically lasting 5-6 months continuously. The facilities available on-site will be basic, with shared accommodation and transport arrangements. To qualify for this position, you should hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in the field. Proven experience in FACTS technology is a must.
