What youll do:
Resident Engineer position is part of Juniper Global Delivery Services team for Routing & Switching , SDWAN + Wireless networks . This position is a highly technical role, providing post-sales support of Junipers Network Products. The Resident Engineer will be required to develop and maintain expertise on the products deployed or to be deployed within the Customer s network. This role requires close integration of efforts between Services, Development Engineering, Product Management and Sales.
This is a full-time position that requires some schedule flexibility to effectively interface with global colleagues.
Job Responsibilities:
- Hold design and information-gathering workshops with the Customer to understand the Customer s existing network design.
- Identify, research, and resolve technical problems of a diverse scope, where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Assist customer/partner for troubleshooting the network s design and architecture issues, analysing network and device configurations.
- Work in a consultative manner to support full-stack enterprise solutions( SD-WAN, Campus and Branch switching, Security, Core and Edge, and Wireless) towards the end customer and creating solutions to cater to the automation use cases in these areas.
- Experience in Wireless Predictive Design using Ekahau or other tools.
- Assist in creating and Updating Mist Templates and apply configuration.
- Assist in creating Pre-Deployment checklists.
- Co-Creating & customizing of site implementation Plans (i.e. Run-Books).
- Solution innovative automation designs to cater to the design delivery and also helping towards development of new and innovative software driven integration solutions.
- Work internally with Juniper SE and Engineering team to relay & drive functionality requirements specific to customer environment.
- Work closely with other resident engineers, customer and Juniper Technical Assistance Centre to optimize network. Acts as a customer technical liaison for Juniper Networks support and development teams.
- Test product features and functionality to provide solution post implementation to meet design requirement.
- Provide deployment guidance to ensure that implementations are consistent with design specifications.
- Apply extensive industry experience to improve network performance and proactively analyse potential enhancements. Evaluating technical specifications for interoperability.
- Assist customer/Partner in the development and testing of new features and solutions.
- Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise to expand knowledge base.
- Hold discussions on customer requirements and assist them on network problems, design needs and the workarounds/solutions that are being tried.
- Hold technology workshops with the Customer to discuss equipment and network problems, and to provide case status updates, including the reasons for any problems encountered and the workarounds/solutions that are being tried.
- Document network design requirement and update design document time to time.
- Validate MOP s and assist partner and customer during migration/implementation.
- Adhere to Juniper process and provide best practices to help customer optimize/design network with worldwide trend/solutions.
- Proactive alerts on security threats, compliances, bulletins & procedures.
What you need to bring:
- Bachelors degree in engineering with 8+ of experience with relevant network troubleshooting experience. Proven experience in designing and managing large service Provider networks.
- Strong influencing skills, design, consultation, and presentation experience directly related to operational experience.
- Understand Service provider core & edge network, Troubleshoot complicated hardware and software issues, replicate customer environments and network problems in the lab.
- Good Junos skills and understanding of product architectures.
- Strong skills and excellent hands-on and planning capabilities with,Juniper CSO,SRX,SSR(128T) or other SDWAN Products like Versa, Cisco Viptela, Silver peak.
- DC and Campus fabric implementation with Juniper EX and QFX or Similar products from Cisco, Arista.
- Mist AP and Cloud or Similar cloud based wireless solution from other vendors like Aruba, Extreme Networks, Cisco Meraki.
- CASB,SWG,DLP,ZTNA ,SASE,SSE .
- Experience of designing and deploying RADIUS and NAC enterprise solutions using Cisco ISE, Aruba Clearpass, Forescout or similar vendors will be added advantage.
- Juniper Networks SRX firewalls and/or of the security products: Cisco, Check Point.
- Network OS like Junos or IOS.
- Experience with VPNs and the associated tunnelling technologies and architectures - IPSEC(Authentication and Encryption, DES, 3DES, MD5, SHA, PKI), GRE, SSL, hub and spoke.
- Layer 3 - IP and related technologies (IS-IS, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, TCP, GRE, IPSec, QoS).
- Experience in advanced Datacentre technologies VxLAN, EVPN, MCLAG, IP Fabric,GBP.
- Sound knowledge of Service Provider background.
- Layer 2 technologies (Ethernet, 802.1q/p VLAN, BFD, STP, RSTP, ARP, LACP, VRRP, 802.1x).
- Experience with NAT (Source, Destination, Static, NAT-PT) and Network Access Control. Hands on experience on NAC products like Cisco Ice, Aruba clearpass, forescout etc.
- Hands-on experience with Linux servers and network services (DHCP, SNMP, FTP, TFTP, DNS, NTP).
- Familiar with Wireless technologies like IEEE 802.11 standards (b,g,n, ac,ax), 802.1x Wi-Fi.
- Strong knowledge of Controller based or cloud based wireless management and solutions.
- Experience designing, deploying, configuring, supporting, troubleshooting, debugging and administering some of the following Wireless LAN products, devices, and technologies for small, medium, large and/or enterprise businesses such as the following: Wireless Access Points Wireless Client Association Wireless Controllers CSMA/CA, RTS, CTS protocols RF transmission/site survey Antennas
- WEP encryption (Wired Equivalent Privacy) , WPA (Wi-Fi Protocol Access), WPA2.
- Experience/Knowledge of Virtualization and Hypervisor Technologies like ESXi, KVM.
- Ability to execute projects using scripting and/or relevant programming languages, for example, shell, Python, Ansible.
- Familiar and Hands-On with traffic generation tool (Ixia, Spirent, etc.).
- Understanding of Cloud Concept, Private and Public Cloud, Design Fundamentals.
- Application of Firewalls, Access and Perimeter control, Vulnerability Management , Network Intrusion. Detection and prevention, Malware analysis & detection tools, Threat intelligence management, UTM Solutions, Security Signatures.
- Certifications JNCIP/JNCIE or CCNP/CCIE is a strong plus.
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development
- Software development and Automation with Python, Golang, Ansible, Javascript
- Knowledge in Containers and Orchestration (Docker, K8S), Kafka, Elastic Search
- Working experience in Gitlab and Pipelines
