As the VP - R&D at Marut Drones, you will be responsible for leading the end-to-end product R&D and Engineering functions. Your primary focus will be on ensuring reliable, robust, and scalable hardware and integrated systems, driving innovations that result in world-class, field-validated drone systems. Key Responsibilities: **Leadership & Strategy:** - Lead the R&D/Engineering team to innovate and design products aligning with the company's vision for the UAV/UGV industry. - Develop and execute the R&D roadmap, ensuring timely project delivery in line with company objectives. **System Architecture Leadership:** - Make system-level architecture decisions across avionics, propulsion, flight control, power systems, and software stacks. - Architect robust battery systems, including smart BMS integration, power distribution, and thermal management for diverse flight profiles. **Product Reliability & Field Validation:** - Drive design-for-reliability (DFR), environmental testing, and field validation frameworks. - Implement hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and performance monitoring under real-world conditions. - Champion robust component selection, mechanical durability, and compliance with EMI/EMC standards. **Reliability Engineering & Design Validation:** - Establish reliability engineering functions such as HALT, HASS, MTBF analysis, FMEA, and environmental validation. - Define lifetime targets for components and systems, lead accelerated life testing, and ensure a design for serviceability mindset. **Technology & Innovation Pipeline:** - Define and maintain a 2-3 year technology roadmap for sensors, navigation, autonomy, and AI/ML-driven analytics. - Foster an IP and innovation culture through patents, trade secrets, and new technologies like swarming and edge AI. **Manufacturability & Production Handoff:** - Collaborate with Production and QA for DFM (Design for Manufacturability) practices and ensure BOM cost vs. reliability trade-offs. **Team Management & Development:** - Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team, emphasizing collaboration and innovation. - Set clear performance goals for team members and provide regular feedback on their progress. **Project Management:** - Ensure timely delivery of R&D projects within scope, budget, and quality standards using agile methodologies and project management tools. - Coordinate resources, prioritize tasks, and manage risks across all ongoing R&D projects. **Regulatory & Safety Ownership:** - Lead interactions with regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with global standards and certifications related to safety and flight operations. This role at Marut Drones will be instrumental in driving technological advancements and maintaining the company's position at the forefront of the industry. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of leadership, technical expertise, and strategic thinking to shape the future of agricultural drones. Requirements: - Proven track record in delivering hardware products with >95% field uptime. - Deep understanding of rugged electronics design, thermal & power management, and real-time systems. - Exposure to industry standards for product safety, environmental compliance, and flight certifications. - Experience in battery pack design, BMS integration, and flight endurance optimization. - Familiarity with safety standards for Li-ion systems and UAV or automotive industry exposure is preferred.,
