Plan, organise, and monitor production schedules to ensure timely delivery of components and subassemblies, meeting quality & quantity targets.
Coordinate with design / process engineering to optimize process flows, fixture designs, tooling, and cycle times.
Work closely with machining, turning, welding, inspection, and finishing units to ensure that machines are utilized efficiently, setups are optimized, and changeovers are minimized.
Ensure that production meets the defined quality standards: monitor defects, scrap rates, PPM (parts per million), and take corrective action when deviations occur.
Implement and follow process standardization, work instructions, SOPs, to ensure consistency of operations.
Perform capacity & throughput analysis, identify bottlenecks, and propose improvement (layout, manpower, process steps) to improve productivity, reduce lead time.
Monitor production KPIs: ontime delivery, throughput, equipment utilisation, yield, downtime etc.
Collaborate with quality department on inspection feedback; ensure rework & rejection are minimised.
Liaise with maintenance, tool room, supply chain (for tooling, fixtures, raw materials) so that production is not disrupted by lack of inputs.
Manage cost of production: material usage, tool wear, energy consumption, manpower etc.
Drive continuous improvement / lean manufacturing initiatives (5S, SMED, Kaizen, value stream mapping, etc.).
Ensure safety compliance, adherence to HSE norms on shop floor.
Bachelors degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering (or related field).
Experience of 3 - 5 years (or appropriate for level) in a manufacturing / machining environment, especially component manufacture, preferably in precision machining.
Handson exposure to CNC machines (VMC, HMC, turning centers), welding, finishing processes.
Good understanding of machining processes, process planning, tooling, fixtures etc.
Ability to read technical drawings, GD&T (geometric dimensioning & tolerancing).
Familiarity with production planning tools, ERP/MRP, scheduling; experience in estimating cycle times.
Datadriven mindset: using metrics to monitor performance, quantify improvements.
Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma / process optimization methodologies is a plus.
Good communication and coordination skills: working across functions (quality, design, maintenance, procurement).
Strong problemsolving skills, especially under pressure, to address production delays or quality issues.
Organisation, planning, ability to prioritise tasks.
Team player, with ability to guide / mentor operators; sometimes shift coordination.
Reports to Production / Operations Manager or Head of Production.
Frequent interaction with Quality, Process Engineering, Maintenance, Tool Room, Supply Chain.
Work primarily on shop floor; may require monitoring multiple work areas.
Shift work / overtime may be required to meet delivery deadlines.
On Time Delivery (% shipments delivered as per schedule)
Production yield / First Pass Yield / Scrap / Rework rates
Machine / resource utilisation (capacity utilisation)
Cycle time adherence and lead time reduction
Cost of production (process cost, tool cost, manpower)
Reduction in downtime due to process issues
Improvement initiatives (number, savings from Kaizen / Lean)
Quality metrics (PPM, customer returns, defects)
