Job Description

As a Mechanical Designer at Nexstem, you will be an integral part of our team, collaborating with engineering, product, and NPD teams to create cutting-edge products that are user-centric and aesthetically pleasing. Your main focus will be on ensuring the functionality and manufacturability of the products. Key Responsibilities: - Craft intuitive physical interactions through refined features and touchpoints to enhance overall Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA). - Generate innovative design concepts through advanced CAD modeling. - Develop high-fidelity CAD models and functional prototypes for rapid iteration. - Engineer components, assemblies, and enclosures for manufacturability. - Select and validate materials suitable for biosignal acquisition devices. - Develop innovative solutions to address design constraints posed by human-machine interfaces. - Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical, electronic, and user experience elements. - Manage relationships with suppliers and manufacturers for prototyping and scaling components. - Create comprehensive engineering documentation to support regulatory compliance and design validation. - Conduct mechanical testing and design validation to drive continuous improvement. Qualifications: Core Requirements: - Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in developing physical products, with a preference for work in bio-acquisition wearables, medical devices, or BCIs. - Portfolio: Strong portfolio demonstrating contributions to sensor-integrated and production-ready wearable solutions. - Technical Tools: Expertise in PTC Creo, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360, and proficiency in 3D prototyping techniques. - Manufacturing Expertise: Proven experience with DFM/DFA, plastic injection molding, and assembly techniques suitable for precision fit. - Team Collaboration: History of working closely with engineering, neuroscience, and industrial design teams. - Problem Solving: Methodical approach to design challenges, balancing user needs, technical feasibility, and regulatory considerations. - Communication: Excellent skills in presenting design rationale and user research findings. Bonus Qualifications: - Biosignal Product Experience: Prior work in bio-acquisition products is an advantage. - Innovative Mindset: Passion for cutting-edge, ergonomic wearable technology with measurable impact.
