As a Global Supplier Quality Engineer at Valmet, you will play a crucial role in conducting supplier quality-related activities to support new product introductions with existing and new suppliers. Your responsibilities will include performing supplier qualification and re-qualification audits, supplier process development and audits, and product audits. You will be driving supplier and product quality improvement initiatives while collaborating closely with a global cross-functional team, mainly engineering and sourcing departments. Your duties will also involve conducting supplier site inspections, identifying non-conformities, and planning corrective actions and root cause analysis with suppliers for repetitive non-conformities. You will be responsible for training suppliers on global quality procedures, harmonizing global procedures, and assigning inspection plans based on claims data, past supplier performance, and rejection trends. Monitoring sample evaluations, pilot lot inspections, plant feedback, and supplier corrective actions will be part of your regular tasks. To excel in this role, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering and possess 5 to 7 years of professional experience, preferably in valve industries or casting and machining industries. Hands-on experience in operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) is desirable, along with in-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and the ability to understand mechanical parts drawings. Specialized expertise in dimension control in the machined industry is preferred, as well as effective verbal and written communication skills in English. Preferred qualifications for this position include certification as an internal auditor for ISO 9001:2015, experience in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies like 8D, and a working knowledge of materials and specifications such as ASME, API, ANSI, and ISO. Familiarity with CS and SS casting and machining, good PC skills including MS Office applications, and experience with SAP, Oracle, PowerApps, and Power BI are also beneficial. Additionally, willingness to travel to supplier locations and work in a cross-functional team environment are essential for success in this role.
