Role Overview: As the Chief Process Advisor, your main responsibility will be to compare and evaluate the specifications of equipment with those specified in the UOP Schedule A Package, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, and various UOP Standard Specifications and Drawings before the completion of construction. The Chief Process Advisor advises on detailed checkout, precommissioning activities, heater and reactor circuit dryout, catalyst and/or adsorbent loading, startup, initial operation, and testing of the unit. They provide instruction and direction to the operating staff to ensure UOP's commissioning, startup, and initial operations services are fully executed. Before the completion of construction, the Chief Process Advisor compares and evaluates the specifications of the supplied equipment with those specified in the UOP Schedule A Package, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, and various UOP Standard Specifications and Drawings. This detailed examination procedure helps identify, evaluate, and provide advice to avoid problems that could interfere with a smooth startup and successful performance of the Process Unit. During the checkout phase, the UOP Chief Process Advisor directs the development and implementation of a precommissioning program. This includes activities such as hydrostatic testing, water flushing, leak testing, pump and compressor run-in, refractory dryout, high-temperature field tests, inspection, catalyst loading, and instrument loop checking. Upon completion of the precommissioning phase, the Chief Process Advisor reviews and evaluates the startup schedule, offering advice on possible improvements. They provide operating instructions to Operations and Engineering staff to ensure knowledge of UOP procedures for startup, normal operations, and shutdown, as well as understanding UOP's recommended procedures for handling emergency situations safely and efficiently. The Chief Process Advisor advises the customer's engineers and operators to achieve a smooth and beneficial startup, drawing on their experience with similar units to avoid potential pitfalls. Daily instructions are issued to shift-working Process Advisors in collaboration with the customer's operations management team to ensure a smooth continuous startup from feed introduction to on-specification products. Following the initial startup, the UOP Chief Process Advisor advises on the daily operation of the unit and recommends adjustments to optimize unit performance. They establish process guidelines to prepare the unit for a successful performance test, verifying the unit's ability to achieve yields represented during the design phase and serving as a benchmark for future process unit performance comparisons. Additionally, a detailed study of the unit may be conducted during this period, including calculations of product yields and catalyst activity/selectivity. The unit is evaluated from both process and hydraulic viewpoints, establishing a base condition useful for troubleshooting and planning future expansions.,
