Principal Cloud Database Administrator

Role Overview: OpenText is seeking an experienced PostgreSQL database administrator to join their team. As a PostgreSQL DBA, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, security, and backup/recovery of PostgreSQL instances. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work with Oracle and/or MS SQL instances. Key Responsibilities: - Setup and manage highly available Crunchy Data HA-based PostgreSQL clusters - Patch, upgrade, and maintain PostgreSQL software - Implement minimal downtime database upgrades using various technologies - Design and implement application-specific data migration solutions for database upgrades - Establish PostgreSQL best practices across various deployments - Act as a Tech Lead to drive the PostgreSQL delivery roadmap and strategy - Proactively review database metrics, identify bottlenecks, and tune the database/query - Configure and customize monitoring configurations for PostgreSQL databases - Implement backup/recovery strategies with point-in-time restore capability - Implement and maintain data replication to disaster recovery environments - Automate routine tasks such as software installation, standby database validation, log rotation, and security auditing - Develop and maintain documented procedures for effective database operations - Respond to page-outs as part of on-call rotation, perform incident recovery, and implement corrective actions - Act as a PostgreSQL Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting peers and providing expertise as needed - Support database environments used by customer-facing OpenText applications aligned to their multi-tenant SaaS stack of products Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or related field - Minimum 8 years of Information Technology experience - 3+ years of PostgreSQL operations experience - Expertise in setting up and managing PostgreSQL HA environments - Proficient in troubleshooting and performance management of PostgreSQL - Strong Unix skills, especially in writing automation scripts for remote execution - Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL statements - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines - Experience supporting enterprise-level database environments Additional Details: If you require assistance or a reasonable accommodation due to a disability during the application process, please contact hr@opentext.com.
