Department/Unit: Mechanical Maintenance Reporting To: Mechanical Supervisor Direct Reports: None Job Purpose/Summary: To perform skilled mechanical fitting, repair, and maintenance tasks on various plant equipment and machinery (pumps, valves, conveyors, furnaces, crushers, etc.) to ensure their optimal functioning and reliability, adhering to safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities & Duties: Repair & Overhaul: Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble mechanical components such as pumps, gearboxes, valves, bearings, shafts, and conveyors. Preventive Maintenance: Execute routine preventive maintenance tasks, lubrication, and inspections as per schedules. Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical faults and identify root causes of equipment failures. Installation: Assist in the installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment. Alignment: Perform precision alignment of shafts, couplings, and motors using appropriate tools. Fabrication/Modification: Perform minor fabrication or modification tasks as required. Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to all safety procedures, including LOTO, confined space entry, and working at heights. Use appropriate PPE. Tool Management: Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition. Reporting: Accurately record details of work performed, time taken, and parts used in work orders or logbooks. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Quality of Mechanical Repairs Timeliness of Work Order Completion Adherence to Safety Procedures Tool & Equipment Condition Downtime Reduction (contributed by quality work) Required Qualifications: ITI Fitter trade certificate or equivalent vocational qualification. Required Experience: 3-7 years of hands-on experience as a mechanical fitter in a heavy process industry. Experience with rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and precision fitting. Required Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Proficiency in using various hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics. Knowledge of rigging and lifting procedures. High safety awareness .
