A. About the Role We are seeking a motivated and experience Power Management Professional to join our growing Power Management team. This role involves forecasting electricity demand, optimizing power procurement including day-ahead/intraday forecasting, and ensuring efficient scheduling and dispatch through our customized software. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation, experience with the Power Procurement Management including day ahead and intraday procurement, Demand and Supply, Power Scheduling/ Dispatch, Load forecasting. As an Analyst (Power Procurement), you will work closely with Power Purchase department at clients end and work under guidance of Senior Power Procurement Expert. B. Detailed expectations from the role • Developing/ Interpreting forecasting models. • Analysing historical data, market trends, and other relevant factors to accurately predict and forecast energy demand. • Collaborate with energy suppliers, customers, and load dispatch centre to develop and implement demand/generation estimation strategies. • Strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of energy markets, and the ability to work with large datasets. • Monitor and analyse energy usage data to identify opportunities for market behaviour. • Develop and implement forecasts for demand and price. • Ensure Load forecast planning horizons and their impacts that range from short-term to long term with their Transmission corridor availability. • Ensure Scheduling and Dispatch optimization with proper understanding of Day ahead Dispatch model/schedule Optimizer considering all kind of signed PPA. • Ensure necessary required actions/compliances as per the MERCs DSM Regulation 2019 and coordinate with SLDC and the RE developers to get the necessary forecasted inputs. • Ensure the Demand supply position based on contract requirements (Long, Medium, short, Day-Ahead, Intraday and RTM). • Ensure Procurement Planning, optimization, and Energy Portfolio Management. • Ensure Market participation strategy (DAM, TAM, and RTM) of Power Exchanges, price forecasting, and volume risk-mitigation. • Ensure Energy Accounting for OA consumers in accordance with the MERC and CERC Regulations. • Ensure Deviation Settlement Analysis (Technical/Operational) and Database management of static and dynamic parameters of Generators. • Ensure Comprehensive and scalable reporting dashboard which covers all key parameters of Energy Portfolio Management (EPM) operation / modules and the reports would be exportable to various format like xls*, csv, pdf and .xml. C. Required skill set • Knowledge of programming language for data management and forecasting model development and analysis. • Utilize statistical models and forecasting techniques to predict future energy demand • Evaluate the impact of external factors such as weather patterns, economic indicators, and regulatory changes on energy consumption • Refine forecasting models to improve accuracy and reliability • Collaborate with data scientists and other stakeholders to enhance forecasting methodologies • Good understanding of demand pattern of utilities within India across the months and scenario analysis consideration while forecasting (Experience of Maharashtra is preferred) • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse complex data and make recommendations. • Generate daily, weekly, and long-term energy load forecasts and communicate forecast results and insights to decision-makers to support strategic planning • Collaborate with external partners, such as energy suppliers and regulatory agencies, to exchange information and improve forecasting accuracy • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance forecasting capabilities • Power Trading and Power Purchase cost optimization • Strong written and oral communications skills. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel and Power Point). D. Education and Experience • Relevant work experience of over 2 years in Power Sector. • B.E./B.Tech/Masters in any field. • Proven experience in Power Trading/ Purchase domain, Load Forecasting through software/ application is MUST (Atleast 1 projects). • Knowledge of Power system, Demand Side Management and Power purchase principles. • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports and technical documentation. • Proficiency in IT based dashboards and software. • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously. E. Work Location • Base location shall be Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad, Maharashtra). However, the role would require the applicant to undertake travel for pursuing various opportunities. F. Regulatory Compliance: Provide expertise and guidance on regulatory frameworks and requirements pertinent to power distribution. Commercial Operations: Advise on commercial aspects of power purchase/sale in electricity distribution. Energy Accounting: Contribute expertise to state-level energy accounting assignments. DSM Billing: Provide insights and support related to Demand Side Management (DSM) billing. Inter-State Coordination: Possess domain knowledge and experience relevant to projects involving SLDCs (State Load Dispatch Centers), STUs (State Transmission Utilities), RLDCs (Regional Load Dispatch Centers), and GRID-INDIA. Problem Solving (Regulatory/Commercial): Address challenges and provide solutions related to regulatory and commercial issues in the power sector. Strategic Input: Offer strategic input to the Project Manager on regulatory and commercial implications of project decisions. Indian Power Sector Focus: Deep understanding and experience within the specific context of the Indian Power Sector. Stakeholder Engagement: Potentially engage with various stakeholders (regulators, utilities, etc.) on regulatory and commercial matters. Analysis & Reporting: Conduct analysis of regulatory changes and commercial data, and prepare reports as needed. B. Project Monitoring & Execution: Monitor and manage all project activities as per the defined scope of work, ensuring on-time delivery, stakeholder coordination, and adherence to quality standards. Domain Expertise Regulatory & Commercial: Provide comprehensive domain expertise on regulatory and commercial aspects of the Indian power sector. Ensure all system features and functionalities align with current rules, market structures, and commercial practices. Incorporate update requirements w.r.t policies changes, recent judgement/orders, regulatory guidelines, and commercial frameworks to ensure the IT system remains compliant, relevant, and effective. Energy Accounting & Billing Management: Oversee IT system support for energy accounting, generator billing, and DSM (Demand Side Management) billing processes within power distribution utilities. Advisory & Strategic Support: Offer expert advisory and consulting services to power sector stakeholders, driving improvements in energy accounting and billing through IT solutions. Coordination with key agencies such as SLDCs, STUs, RLDCs, and GRID-INDIA as and when required to ensure seamless integration and alignment of IT systems across the electricity value chain. Technical Oversight & Problem Solving: Resolve technical and operational issues in system deployment, ensuring high system availability, data accuracy, and user satisfaction. B. A strong understanding of power purchase processes, generator billing, and energy accounting is essential. In-depth knowledge of regulatory and commercial aspects of the Indian power sector, including policies, compliance requirements, and market mechanisms. Hands-on experience with IT systems supporting state-level energy accounting within distribution utilities. Familiarity with IT systems used for DSM (Demand Side Management) billing in distribution companies. Experience working with or understanding the IT system requirements of key power sector entities such as SLDCs (State Load Dispatch Centers), STUs (State Transmission Utilities), RLDCs (Regional Load Dispatch Centers), and GRID-INDIA.
