Power Builder Developer

You are an experienced PowerBuilder Developer with strong Sybase expertise, tasked with leading the migration of legacy PowerBuilder applications and databases to modern platforms. Your responsibilities include analyzing, refactoring, and migrating existing systems to ensure smooth transitions with minimal downtime, improved performance, and scalability. You will be analyzing existing PowerBuilder applications and Sybase databases to plan migration strategies. Refactoring and optimizing legacy PowerBuilder code to support migration goals is a key part of your role. Additionally, you will migrate databases from Sybase ASE or SQL Anywhere to new platforms or upgraded Sybase environments. Developing and maintaining migration tools, scripts, and utilities to automate data and application migration is also essential. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and ensure minimal disruption during migration is crucial. You will be responsible for testing migrated applications for functionality, performance, and security. Troubleshooting and resolving migration-related issues, including data integrity and compatibility, will be part of your responsibilities. Documenting migration processes, risks, and solutions is also expected from you. Post-migration support and optimization to ensure stable system operation will be required. To excel in this role, you should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A minimum of 4 years of experience with PowerBuilder development and Sybase database management is necessary. Extensive experience in PowerBuilder application development and Sybase database management, specializing in migration projects, is crucial. Expertise in SQL, stored procedures, and database optimization in Sybase ASE or SQL Anywhere is required. Proficiency in analyzing legacy code, refactoring, and modernizing applications is a must. Familiarity with database migration tools and ETL processes is beneficial. A good understanding of data integrity, security, and compliance during migrations is essential.
