Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Lead to design, implement, and optimize scalable, high-performance database solutions. This role involves leading a team of database engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and serving as the key link between business stakeholders and technical teams. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in PostgreSQL, strong SQL skills, and hands-on experience with performance tuning, replication, partitioning, and database security. You'll play a pivotal role in defining best practices, ensuring data integrity, and driving innovation in database architecture and operations. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement scalable, high-performance database solutions using PostgreSQL. Lead a team of database engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams (Development, DevOps, QA, Business etc.). Act as a primary liaison between business stakeholders, clients, and technical teams to ensure alignment on goals, timelines, and deliverables. Proactively manage expectations and drive consensus across diverse teams. Define data models, schema structures, and normalization standards to meet business needs. Analyse and optimize complex queries and stored procedures. Monitor database performance and recommend improvements in indexing, query execution plans, and I/O efficiency. Lead the design of data replication, partitioning, sharding, and backup strategies. Oversee daily maintenance, monitoring, and backups of database systems. Establish and maintain procedures for disaster recovery, high availability, and failover mechanisms. Define best practices, coding standards, and automation strategies for database operations. Implement and enforce data security and access controls. Ensure compliance with data protection policies and regulatory requirements. Evaluate and implement tools for database observability, monitoring, and CI/CD integration. Research and introduce new technologies and features to improve DB performance and reliability. Required Skills: 6+ years of experience in database development and administration, with at least 3 years in PostgreSQL. Strong communication and leadership skills with experience leading a team. Strong Coordination & Collaboration Skills. Expert-level SQL skills and strong understanding of relational database theory. Experience with PostgreSQL performance tuning, vacuuming, partitioning, and query planning. Strong knowledge of replication (logical and physical), streaming, and failover strategies. Strong analytical skills.
