Postdoctoral Fellow, School of Arts and Sciences

You will be conducting experimental research, analyzing data, writing and publishing manuscripts, applying for research grants, and mentoring PhD and undergraduate students. Reporting to Professor Ashim Rai, this 36-month position at Ahmedabad University involves working on the biophysics of Salmonella-host cytoskeleton interactions in Professor Ashim Rai's lab in the Division of Biological and Life Sciences. The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in biochemistry or biophysics, with experience in cytoskeletal biology being highly desirable. The research project focuses on understanding the biophysical molecular mimicry mechanisms employed by Salmonella pathogenic factors to manipulate host cell cytoskeletal networks. Using interdisciplinary methods such as reconstitution biology, fluorescence spectroscopy, and DNA nanotechnology, you will explore these mechanisms. Proficiency in fluorescence microscopy and spectroscopy is essential for this role. Key skills required for this role include expertise in protein expression and purification using bacterial and insect cell expression systems, experience in time-lapse fluorescence imaging for monitoring biological function progression, and familiarity with using a fluorescence spectrophotometer to measure fluorescence. Qualified candidates should possess a PhD degree in Biochemistry or Biophysics with a proven track record of publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
