Pokarna Engineered Stone Limited Job Description Purchase Manager Job Purpose To manage and control all procurement activities related to raw materials, consumables, machinery spares, and services for the ceramic/quartz manufacturing plant, ensuring cost-effective sourcing, timely supply, and adherence to quality standards. Key Roles & Responsibilities Procurement Planning: Develop and implement procurement plans based on production forecasts and sales orders; plan monthly and quarterly material requirements for raw materials such as feldspar, quartz, clay, alumina, frits, pigments, resins, and chemicals; coordinate with production and stores for maintaining optimum inventory levels. Vendor Development & Management: Identify and develop reliable local and international suppliers for minerals, chemicals, and machinery parts; conduct vendor evaluations based on price, quality, and supply capability; negotiate commercial terms and maintain a strong vendor database. Purchase Execution: Float enquiries, collect quotations, and prepare comparative statements; issue purchase orders and ensure timely delivery; monitor supplier performance; coordinate logistics for inbound materials and imports. Cost Control & Budgeting: Analyze market trends for key raw materials and negotiate for cost efficiency; prepare and control procurement budgets; implement cost-saving initiatives through alternate sourcing and long-term contracts. Inventory & Material Management: Work closely with stores to maintain adequate stock levels; monitor consumption, wastage, and reorder levels; support inventory audits and maintain ERP-based stock accuracy. Compliance & Documentation: Ensure procurement complies with company policies and statutory requirements (GST, customs, etc.); maintain accurate records and contracts; coordinate with accounts for invoice verification and payments; support ISO/IMS/QMS documentation. Coordination: Liaise with production, R&D, and maintenance teams for technical specifications; coordinate logistics and customs clearance for imports; work with quality control for material inspection and approval. Key Skills & Competencies: Strong negotiation and analytical skills. In-depth knowledge of ceramic/quartz raw materials and chemical properties. Understanding of procurement of refractory materials, molds, spares, and production consumables. ERP knowledge (SAP / Tally / Oracle). Excellent communication and vendor relationship management. Cost control mindset and strong follow-up skills. Educational Qualification: Graduate in Engineering / Science / Commerce. MBA in Materials Management / Operations / Supply Chain (preferred). Diploma in Materials Management from a recognized institute (added advantage). Experience: 7 - 15 years of experience in Procurement / Purchase within the Ceramic, Quartz, Tiles, or Minerals Processing industry. Experience in handling imports of raw materials, machinery, and chemicals is preferred. Salary Package: 12 - 15 LPA
