Purpose and Scope The Senior Hydrographic Surveyor is responsible for the accurate and efficient completion of offshore survey work conducted by the Company. The Senior Hydrographic Surveyor is the company’s representative whilst on the project, he/she will liaise with the client representative assigned to the project. Essential Position Functions The Senior Hydrographic Surveyor is assigned to a project by the Operations Department. The Senior Hydrographic Surveyor directs, and controls, assigned staff to ensure that correct procedures are conformed to during the offshore phase of the project. All communications with the office regarding project related issues goes through the Senior Hydrographic Surveyor. The Senior Hydrographic Surveyor oversees daily operations in the field. All field staff assigned to a project will report to the Senior Hydrographic Surveyor. The Senior Hydrographic Surveyor duties are as follows: · Actively participate in the proper and timely execution of assigned projects. · Actively participate in adherence to and improvement of the Company’s Management System. · Will ensure project goals are attained, and correct procedures are followed. · Oversee and QC work conducted by assigned staff. · QC and approve any project related administrative reporting. · Liaise with the client representative on the project. · Document contract variation orders. · Conduct and minute project safety meetings onboard the vessel with all crew present. · Ensure survey personnel correctly use Personnel Protective Equipment on the project. · Compile draft report, utilizing provide template. · Compile final report in the office when all data has been processed. · Assist in the compilation of the project procedures. · Ensure company Quality, Environment, Health & Safety Policies are adhered to offshore. Organization Relationships The Senior Hydrographic Surveyor will liaise with the Project Manager with regard to the assigned project operations. Job requirements Education, Training & Experience · B.Sc. / B.E. level or equivalent in Marine Sciences, Hydrographic Surveying (preferred), Electronics Engineering or similar. · Minimum 5 years’ experience in nearshore and offshore survey covering pre-engineering, pre-construction, post-construction, As-Laid, Seabed Hazards Clearance and similar surveys including topography, Land Survey, barge, rig and jacket positioning services. · Minimum 5 years’ experience as Senior Hydrographic Surveyor for positioning, survey and dimensional control work in the nearshore and offshore survey industry. · Experienced in usage of various standard survey acquisition and processing software’s like EIVA (preferred), QINSy and similar. · Conversant with the equipment and software utilized by the Company. · Fluent in writing and spoken English. · Good working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software (MS Office). · Familiarity with drawing and plotting software (AutoCAD).
