Job Title : Electrical Design Engineer Department : Design & Engineering Location : Atlas Transformers India Limited (Por,GIDC) Experience: 2 to 4 Years in Transformers Industry Industry : Transformer Manufacturing – Power & Distribution Job Summary The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing electrical specifications for power and distribution transformers to meet customer requirements, industry standards, and manufacturing capabilities. This role involves preparing detailed electrical designs, calculations, and technical documentation, while closely coordinating with mechanical design, production, quality, and sales teams. The engineer ensures that transformer designs are optimized for performance, reliability, cost-efficiency, and compliance with international and regional standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI, IS, etc.). Key Responsibilities Transformer Electrical Design: Design power and distribution transformers (typically from 11kV to 765kV or as required), including single-phase and three-phase units. Develop electrical design parameters such as voltage, current, impedance, vector group, insulation levels, short-circuit withstand capability, temperature rise, and cooling methods (ONAN, ONAF, KNAN, etc.). Select appropriate core material, winding configurations (layer, helical, disc), tap changer types (OLTC/DETC), and insulation systems based on application and customer specs. Design Calculations and Analysis: Perform detailed design calculations for core size, winding losses, load losses, no-load losses, impedance, reactance, eddy currents, and thermal behavior. Use simulation tools for magnetic and electrical field analysis (e.g., FEM, Flux, or ANSYS). Evaluate hotspot temperature rise and cooling effectiveness for transformers under different load conditions. Preparation of Technical Documentation: Create complete transformer electrical design documents, including: Electrical design sheets GTP (Guaranteed Technical Particulars) Loss calculations Thermal and impedance analysis Rating and nameplate details SLDs (Single Line Diagrams) Generate BOM (Bill of Materials) and support ERP integration. Customer and Project Support: Analyze customer specifications, tender documents, and grid codes to design compliant transformers. Provide technical support to the sales team for pre-bid design and cost estimation. Communicate with clients and consultants to resolve technical queries and finalize designs. Coordination with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with mechanical design engineers to ensure integration of electrical and mechanical parameters. Support the production team during manufacturing, including clarification of winding arrangements, tap lead routing, insulation layouts, and assembly sequences. Assist the testing team during routine, type, and special tests by providing key design parameters and interpreting results. Standards and Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with applicable international and national standards (IEC, IS, ANSI, IEEE). Stay updated on revisions to technical standards and implement changes in design practices accordingly. Support quality audits and product certifications by furnishing required technical documentation. Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Participate in R&D projects for design optimization, loss reduction, and performance enhancement. Contribute to standardization of design processes and templates to improve efficiency and reduce lead times. Implement cost-effective design improvements without compromising product quality or reliability. Job Purpose The Advance Engineer – Electrical Integration / PASD will be responsible for developing Electrical Integration/Wiring Harness/ Schematics systems/subsystems for Small & Medium tractors (30-300+hp) segment. Tractor PDE team. and requires close collaboration with local/global peers, local and global leaders to transform the value generated for organization & for the stakeholders. Nature of work shall predominantly be focused on Product Design across new & current product development, VA/VE, sustenance engineering, etc. Key Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities: The candidate will be responsible for the Electrical Components integration & harness layout on to new tractor architecture for multiple platforms in coordination with vehicle architect. Develop and maintain Tractor specific harness 3D layout in CREO in TcAE, designing with the accurate vehicle master model environment and adhering to the wire harness design & routing requirements Standard and supporting the vehicle architecture team in packaging major EE components (for example, batteries, modules, displays, ECU, starter motor etc) Preparation of 2D harness drawing in Capital XC Desire to have experience in preparation of power distribution, ground distribution and communication architecture in Capital Schematic/Logic After approval of the 3D design, 2D harness drawings should be created according to the CNH drawing specifications and the PASD Design Methodology. All designs should be stored on a regularly bases in Team Center and all release steps should be used Assembly Drawings – Develop and maintain machine specific assembly drawings for each EE Group/Type Number in the BOM that is impacted by the project. This is to be done in CREO and to follow the assembly drawing guidelines/best practices for wire harnesses. Design/selection of harness retention components (cable tie systems, brackets, grommets etc) Good understanding of wiring harness manufacturing processes and in particular desire to have good understanding of component selection (fuses, relays, connectors, covering, wire etc.) Desire to have understand of cost optimization ideas in wire hereness and related components Knowledge of wiring harness related standards Knowledge of DFMEA, DFA, DFM, DFS Effective and clear communication via design reviews of concepts to foster detailed discussions to reach conclusions. Work effectively with Cross Functional Team (CFT) – manufacturing, sourcing, supplier quality, supplier, to ensure designs are meeting all set engineering requirements Functional/Technical Deliverables- Responsible for delivering the work in an autonomous mode with limited supervision in close collaboration with global teams focusing Execution Excellence on Time, Quality and productivity KPIs. Responsible for growing technology of products in responsibility area, liaising with external / internal stakeholders Experience Required A minimum of 10 years overall experience; preferable from Agricultural tractors/ Harvesters/Agricultural products domain. A minimum of 3 years specific experience in independently handling complex programs (more than 1) in Electrical Integration / PASD technical area. Preferably experience on Ag.
