Role: SR. PRODUCT Designer ( Houseware products ) Reporting to: SR. Manager- NPD Qualification: Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Plastic, Polymer or NTTF, CIPET Job Description: The Sr. Design Engineer will be responsible for designing plastic houseware products, ensuring manufacturability and assembly feasibility. The role involves 3D modeling, mold design, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop high-quality products while adhering to industry standards. Position Summary: Design and develop plastic houseware products from concept to production. Ensure compliance with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles. Collaborate with marketing, production, and engineering teams for seamless product development. Lead design improvements based on market feedback and technological advancements. Skills required: • Strong knowledge of plastic product design, injection molding, and mold design. • Proficiency in 3D modeling and surfacing using SolidWorks, UG NX, Catia, Pro-E. • Experience in DFM, DFA, DFMEA, Moldflow simulation, and prototyping. • Hands-on experience with project management tools (Jira, Enovia, Teamcenter, Microsoft Project). • Knowledge of plastic materials, molding defects, and quality assurance. • Familiarity with 3D printing, post-processing techniques, and prototype development. Key Responsibilities: Develop 3D models and detailed 2D drawings for new product designs. Conduct Moldflow analysis and recommend design modifications. Ensure product feasibility for mass production through DFM and DFA principles. Identify and mitigate design risks related to material selection and structural integrity. Collaborate with internal teams to align product designs with market demands. Review and mentor junior designers, providing technical guidance. Stay updated with industry trends and implement best practices in product design. Prepare detailed technical documentation, including BOMs, specifications, and process guidelines. Key Performance Indicators (KPI): Design Accuracy & Efficiency: % of error-free designs released for production. Moldflow Analysis Impact: Reduction in molding defects post-analysis. Project Timelines: Adherence to product development schedules. Cost Optimization: Reduction in design-related production costs. Cross-Team Collaboration: Feedback score from marketing, production & quality teams. Innovation & Process Improvement: Number of design improvements implemented. Training & Mentorship: Development of junior team members.
