Plastic Molding Expert

1. Purpose of the Role

To establish, operate, and continuously improve the in-house plastic molding operations, ensuring consistent production quality, machine efficiency, and adherence to design and customer requirements for components used in mosquito bats, torches, lamps, and other consumer electronic products.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Production Management

1. Plan and schedule daily molding operations based on production plan.

2. Set and optimize process parameters for injection molding machines.

3. Monitor OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency), cycle time, and scrap levels.

4. Coordinate with tool room for mold changeover and preventive maintenance.

5. Maintain proper records of material usage, rejection, and production output.

B. Technical / Process Control

6. Troubleshoot molding defects (short shot, flashing, sink marks, warpage, color variation, etc.).

7. Optimize machine settings and injection parameters for each component.

8. Ensure standardization of process sheets for each product / mold.

9. Implement process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.

C. Quality Assurance & Control

10. Inspect incoming raw material (ABS, PP, PC, Nylon, etc.) and color master batches.

11. Ensure molded parts meet dimensional, visual, and functional specifications.

12. Coordinate with QA team for First Article Inspection (FAI), PPAP, and periodic audits.

13. Maintain in-process QC checkpoints and inspection records.

14. Drive corrective & preventive actions for customer complaints or internal rejections.

D. Team & Vendor Coordination

15. Supervise molding operators and quality inspectors.

16. Conduct training for operators on machine handling, safety, and 5S.

17. Work with external vendors for mold repair, modification, or improvement.

18. Support new mold trials and qualification.

E. Documentation & Compliance

19. Maintain molding machine history cards, parameter sheets, and calibration logs.

20. Ensure compliance to ISO 9001 & safety procedures.

21. Prepare daily / weekly performance reports for management.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Qualification: Diploma / B.E. (Mechanical / Plastics / Polymer Technology)
• Experience: 5–10 years in plastic injection molding (preferably in consumer durable / electronics)
• Technical Knowledge:
• - Injection molding machines- Mold setting, maintenance, and optimization- Plastic materials: ABS, PP, PC, Nylon, FR & UV grades- Knowledge of 5S, Kaizen, ISO, and QC tools (7QC, FMEA)
• Skills: Process troubleshooting, problem-solving, team management, and vendor coordination

Preferred Exposure: Wire mesh or electrical appliance plastic component manufacturing
