We are hiring for our client a leading Chemical Industry (MNC Company) Position: Project Mechanical Engineer Exp: 5 to 13 years Qualification: B.E/B.Tech - Mechanical Location: Mettur Job Summary: Responsible for on-site planning, supervision, and execution of mechanical and piping works in both greenfield (new facility) and brownfield (expansion/modification) industrial projects. This includes static and rotary equipment erection, piping fabrication and erection, and ensuring adherence to project timelines, safety, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: 1. Site Execution &; Supervision Supervise erection of mechanical equipment: pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, reactors, vessels, etc. Oversee piping fabrication, fit-up, welding, NDT, hydrotesting, and erection as per isometric drawings and P&IDs. Review GA drawings, piping layouts, and support drawings for constructability and interface issues. 2. Greenfield &; Brownfield Project Focus For Greenfield Projects: Handle complete mechanical setup of new plants including utilities, tank farms, process equipment, and piping networks. For Brownfield Projects: Execute modifications in running plants with focus on shutdown coordination, tie-ins, safety, and isolation procedures. 3. Contractor &; Resource Coordination Monitor contractor performance, manpower deployment, and productivity. Coordinate with planning and procurement for timely delivery of equipment, spools, and Support. Manage site inventory of tools, equipment, and consumables. 4. Quality &; Safety Compliance Ensure welding is done as per WPS/PQR and ITPs are followed for inspection and testing. Conduct fit-up and welding inspections, witness NDT, and support QA/QC documentation. Enforce HSE policies; participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks, and ensure work permits are in place. 5. Documentation &; Reporting Maintain daily progress reports (DPR), joint measurement records, and inspection checklists. Support preparation of as-built documentation and project handover dossiers. Raise RFIs, TQs, and coordinate with design for site clarifications. Key Skills Required: Sound knowledge of piping codes (ASME B31.3), welding procedures, and mechanical equipment handling. Hands-on experience in static and rotary equipment erection and piping systems. Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometrics, equipment layout, and support drawings. Familiarity with MS Office, AutoCAD, and basic project tracking tools (MS Project/Primavera). Good interpersonal skills for coordination across disciplines and contractor teams.
