Position Title: Pilger Mill - in-charge - Sr. Mgr / DGM (Production) Location: Palghar Experience Required: Minimum 10+ years in stainless steel pipe manufacturing Qualification: B. E / B. Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Job Summary: The Pilger Mill in-charge will lead the production operations of the Cold Pilger Mill section, ensuring efficient and high-quality manufacturing of stainless steel pipes and tubes. The role requires strong technical expertise in pilgering processes, team leadership, production planning, and quality control to meet production targets and customer specifications. Key Responsibilities: Production & Process Control: Manage and monitor daily production activities of Cold Pilger Mills to achieve output, quality, and efficiency targets. Ensure accurate setup of dies, mandrels, and rollers as per tube specifications. Optimize pilgering parameters (feed, rotation, lubrication, etc.) for various grades of stainless steel. Minimize rejection, rework, and idle time by implementing continuous process improvements. Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to product quality standards and specifications (ASTM, ASME, EN, etc.). Coordinate with QA/QC for in-process inspections, wall thickness, ovality, and surface finish requirements. Take corrective and preventive actions for any deviations from quality norms. Tool & Die Management: Monitor the condition and performance of pilger dies and mandrels; coordinate for regrinding, replacement, and inventory management. Coordinate with the tool room for timely availability of tooling and fixtures. Manpower & Team Management: Supervise and guide a team of operators, shift engineers, and technicians. Train and upskill team members on process parameters, safety, and equipment handling. Evaluate and improve team performance through regular feedback and assessments. Maintenance Coordination: Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule preventive maintenance and minimize unplanned breakdowns. Ensure regular upkeep and calibration of critical machinery and equipment. Reporting & Documentation: Maintain production logs, shift reports, and downtime analysis. Provide periodic production performance reports to management. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, efficiency, rejection rate, etc. Safety & Compliance: Ensure safe working conditions and strict adherence to EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) guidelines. Promote safe work practices and conduct safety training sessions periodically. Key Skills & Competencies: In-depth knowledge of cold pilgering technology and seamless stainless steel pipe production. Hands-on experience with pilger mills (e.g., SMS Meer, MRB, or equivalent). Ability to interpret engineering drawings, process charts, and technical standards. Sound knowledge of metallurgy related to stainless steel grades (304, 316, 321, etc.). Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills. Familiarity with TPM, 5S, Kaizen, and lean manufacturing techniques. Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). Preferred Background: Experience working in large-scale stain-less steel pipe & tube manufacturing units. Exposure to export-oriented production, customer audits, and third-party inspections.

Tech / Diploma in Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering Job Summary: The Finishing Mill in-charge will be responsible for managing all finishing operations of stain-less steel pipe production including straightening, sizing, cutting, polishing, hydro testing, NDT, and final inspection. The role demands strong process knowledge, quality orientation, and team leadership to ensure that final products meet customer and industry standards. Key Responsibilities: Production Operations: Supervise and control all finishing mill activities such as: Pipe straightening Sizing and end-facing Polishing (mechanical/electro-polishing) Ultrasonic/NDT testing Hydro testing and drying Final inspection, marking, and packing Ensure all operations meet daily production and dispatch schedules. Coordinate with upstream departments (e.g., Pilger/Piercer Mill) and dispatch/logistics for seamless workflow. Quality Assurance: Ensure finished pipes comply with dimensional tolerances, surface finish, and mechanical/chemical properties per applicable standards (ASTM, ASME, EN, etc.). Monitor NDT and hydro testing results, ensuring only defect-free products are cleared for dispatch. Implement corrective actions on quality deviations and customer complaints. Process & Equipment Management: Optimize machine settings and operating parameters for better productivity and reduced defects. Coordinate with maintenance teams for regular upkeep and servicing of finishing equipment. Ensure calibration and proper functioning of all measuring and testing instruments. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain detailed records of production, testing, and inspection. Prepare and verify test certificates, inspection reports, and packing lists. Ensure compliance with ISO/TS certifications, customer audit requirements, and safety norms. Team Management: Lead and supervise a team of operators, inspectors, and shift engineers. Conduct regular training on product quality, customer requirements, equipment handling, and safety. Monitor workforce efficiency and resolve any shop floor issues effectively. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Enforce strict adherence to plant safety protocols. Ensure that all operations in the finishing section are compliant with environmental and safety regulations.

The Plant Head will lead the overall operations of the integrated steel plant encompassing Direct Reduced Iron (DRI), Steel Melting Shop (SMS), Captive Power Plant (CPP), Strip Mill, and Pipe Mill. This role is responsible for production, safety, cost optimization, maintenance, quality, manpower management, and ensuring operational efficiency aligned with organizational goals. The incumbent should bring a strategic vision and hands-on leadership to enhance productivity, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement.
